Will Ferrell might not seem the likeliest celebrity to endorse a skincare product but believe it or not, he has an official sunscreen. Ferrell is no stranger to hawking a product or two. In Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby, he and John C. Reilly’s characters hilariously and satirically endorsed everything from Fig Newtons and Wonder Bread to Powerade and Coca Cola. Since then Ferrell has promoted Bud Light and Old Spice in character as Jackie Moon from Semi-Pro and Dodge Durangos as Ron Burgundy of Anchorman fame.

Not all of Will Ferrell’s endorsements have been for big corporate brands. Back in 2017, Ferrell starred in a series of ads as part of Common Sense Media’s #devicefreedinner campaign. Designed to encourage families to put down their phones during dinnertime and adopt a healthy media diet, the ads saw Ferrell play the part of a phone-obsessed dad more concerned with cat face filters and liking stuff on Facebook than interacting with his wife and kids.

In fact, Will Ferrell has done lots of charity work over the course of his acting career. One non-profit that’s particularly close to his heart is Cancer for College which provides scholarships for cancer survivors and was founded by Ferrell’s friend and former fraternity brother Craig Pollard. His fundraising work with Cancer For College has seen him participate in a drum-off with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer and Will Ferrell lookalike Chad Smith and organize a charity super-show featuring fellow celebrities like Kumail Nanjiani and Zooey Deschanel. And then there’s his official sunscreen.

Released in 2016, Will Ferrell’s Super Mega Sexy Hot Tan sunscreen is priced at $20 for two tubes with all net proceeds going to Cancer for College’s scholarship fund. The sunscreen boasts an SPF of 30 and hilarious packaging that features the actor’s face crudely photoshopped onto a Speedo-clad model rocking a rather obvious tan line. The product description is just as funny too and packed with the kind of absurd humor one expects from Ferrell:

The sun is an evil celestial demon. It tricks us into worshiping it with its warm alluring rays and bright primary color. Don’t be fooled. It wants to destroy us and is hell bent on world domination. I’ve worked in my lab with a team of skin scientists and retired astronaut Brock Sternum to create what we think is our best sunscreen yet.”

That was actually Will Ferrell’s second sunscreen collaboration with Cancer for College. Back in 2009, the actor and non-profit released a trio of SPF 30 sunscreens – Sun Stroke, Forbidden Fruit and Sexy Hot Tan. What makes Super Mega Sexy Hot Tan sunscreen different from its predecessors? “Super mega amounts of the exact same ingredients to make [the] sexiest sunscreen ever,” according to the product blurb.

Unfortunately, Will Ferrell’s sunscreen is no longer available to purchase. However, judging by the success of Ferrell and Cancer for College’s past sunscreen collabs, another line isn’t totally out of question in the future. And it’ll probably be even sexier.
