No Man’s Sky continues to astonish its players with the seemingly endless amount of systems to explore, and their riches within. No single system has every resource that players will need, and figuring out which planets and systems have the resources players are looking for can be a task in itself. While there are tons of materials to gather throughout the galaxy (or galaxies if the end-game is reached), only a handful of resources are going to be useful 100 percent of the time.

Across the voyage of space, players will come into contact with very rare materials that have some serious value. It might not seem like much, but upon the first exploration, everything is worth grabbing and selling at least once. This will give any new player a good idea of what is worth the time to mine, and what is worth passing up on the majority of the time. One of the items, called “Gravitino Balls,” is worth every small Unit of mining time, and knowing where to find and farm these glowing ground orbs can save players a lot of time (and make some serious Units).

No Man’s Sky: How to Find (& Farm) Gravitino Balls

Gravitino Balls are a curse and a blessing to find in No Man’s Sky because they are a valuable resource to collect, but they indicate that the planet they’ve grown on is teeming with sentinel activity. Finding a planet with the glowing orbs isn’t too terrible, however, as a quick scan from space on a planet using the Analysis Visor will let players know if the planet has them on its surface. Even if the visor doesn’t reveal that a planet has Gravitino Balls on it, which it most likely will if Gravitino Balls are on the planet, it’s worth a quick trip – especially on the Extreme Sentinel planets and Doomed planets.

Additionally, some of the passive ways players can find Gravitino Balls are through Expeditions and deconstructing wrecked ships. Deconstructing wrecked ships isn’t the easiest way to obtain Gravitino Balls, but it’s effective with little-to-no hostile engagement. The downside is that it requires a wrecked ship to be found in the first place. No Man’s Sky Expeditions are the missions that players send Frigates out on, not just the new game mode. The more ships in a player’s squadron the more Expeditions the player can launch.

Lastly, Gravitino Balls can be found inside Buried Chests opened with Ancient Keys. This method is a bit time-consuming and not really worth the active effort, but keep this tip in mind in case that Ancient Key is sitting there taking up inventory space.

No Man’s Sky is available on the PlayStation 4 and 5, the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Android, and Microsoft Windows.
