No Time To Die Is Certified Fresh On Rotten Tomatoes

No Time to Die, the fifth and final outing for Daniel Craig’s James Bond, has officially been certified fresh by Rotten Tomatoes. No Time to Die, which is the 25th film in the 007 franchise, hits U.S. theaters next weekend on October 8. The film was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and also stars Rami Malek, Ana de Armas, Léa Seydoux, Lashana Lynch, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, and Jeffrey Wright. The film will see James Bond dragged into another adventure that ties up plotlines from the Craig era going all the way back to 2006’s Casino Royale.

The film has faced many delays throughout its production. The first occurred when original director Danny Boyle stepped down, but the release date was pushed several times throughout 2020 due to theater closures during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, the wait is over and No Time to Die is finally being released exclusively in theaters. Those who were waiting for initial critic and audience responses to the movie before deciding to see it had some good news arrive today.

Rotten Tomatoes has aggregated enough reviews of No Time to Die to certify the film as fresh. It is currently standing strong at an 83% rating across 138 reviews. Among the 35 Top Critics who have reviewed the film, it holds a 74%, which is still well within the ‘fresh’ range. Although the film has opened already in certain territories, the Audience Score remains closed to ratings until the U.S. release date.

No Time to Die currently holds the seventh-highest Rotten Tomatoes score of any James Bond film. The six films above it are all entries starring either Sean Connery or Daniel Craig himself (as opposed to the bottom seven, which is composed entirely of Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan entries), with the highest score belonging to Goldfinger at 99%. No Time to Die has the third-highest score for the Daniel Craig Bond films behind Casino Royale at 89% and Skyfall at 86%. However, the other two Craig-led films are at a massive drop below the pack, with Quantum of Solace at 64% and Spectre at 63%, ranked 16th and 18th in the franchise, respectively.

Given No Time to Die‘s placement among its Daniel Craig contemporaries, things are looking good for fans of the character. Understandably, the fifth film appealed to critics slightly less than the electrifying early outings for the character, given its status as Craig’s swan song. However, this certified fresh rating shows that this is a completely worthy farewell to this beloved iteration of an iconic character.
