Spider-Man: No Way Home brought together the three live-action versions of Spider-Man, making their movies part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s multiverse, and if that wasn’t good enough already, behind-the-scenes footage from No Way Home has made Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s return even better. The MCU’s Phase 4 is exploring new events, characters, and concepts now that the Infinity Saga is over, and the main theme so far has been the multiverse and its many dangers and possibilities.

Viewers got a first taste of what the MCU’s multiverse is like in Loki, which also introduced variants, and all this was further explored in Spider-Man: No Way Home. After Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) framed him for his murder and revealed his real identity to the world at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home sees Peter Parker (Tom Holland) dealing with the consequences of having his biggest secret exposed. Peter asks Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to cast a spell that will make everyone forget he’s Spider-Man, but the spell is botched and instead opens the gates of the multiverse. This allows villains from past Spider-Man movies to cross over to the MCU, making way for multiversal chaos.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Spider-Man: No Way Home also brought back the two previous versions of Peter Parker, and so Holland, Maguire, and Garfield shared the screen for the first time. Months before No Way Home’s release, there were many rumors about Maguire and Garfield’s appearance, and even though the cast denied it multiple times and the trailers tried to hide them (but weren’t that successful), fans persisted in the belief that No Way Home would see the three big-screen Spider-Men together for the first time. The on-screen chemistry between the three Peter Parkers was fun and heartwarming, and it was made better by the behind-the-scenes footage revealed by Marvel.

To promote the home release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel released a trailer with footage of Holland, Maguire, and Garfield sharing some quality time during photoshoots, on set, and more, as well as some of their scenes together from the movie, Charlie Cox’s cameo as Daredevil, and Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, and Willem Dafoe having some fun off-camera as well. Back to the Spideys, the scenes the three Spider-Men shared in No Way Home have been endlessly praised by fans as they each got time to showcase their personalities and the essence that makes them all, well, Peter Parker. Peter 1, Peter 2, and Peter 3 became one of the best teams the MCU has seen, and Maguire and Garfield’s return also allowed their characters to get some closure and redemption, as was the case of Garfield’s Peter saving MJ (Zendaya).

Their appearance in No Way Home was already perfect, but the extra footage featured in the aforementioned video only makes it better by showing their chemistry on and off-screen, and it’s heartwarming and fun seeing three different Spider-Men having fun behind the scenes and truly enjoying the experience of suiting up again and sharing the screen with their fellow Peter Parkers. Spider-Man: No Way Home now has a spot in superhero history by bringing together three different versions of the web-slinger and doing so in a way that each had time to shine and share their experiences, and seeing how well the actors got along while filming only makes it even more special.
