Today’s E3 panel is off to a rocky start, as Twitch is currently unable to stream the Nintendo event just minutes before it’s set to begin. Nintendo has already warned outside parties not to stream its planned E3 showcase, and it turns out that the company is really serious about enforcing this policy.
So far, E3 2021 has provided a mix of emotions among fans, being the first edition of the event to be completely livestreamed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the first to return after last year’s event was cancelled. Throughout the four-day event, viewers have been treated to new developments like Halo Infinite’s newest multiplayer deep dive, the unveiling of Square Enix’s Guardians Of The Galaxy game, and even a surprising look at a brand new Avatar game among many other surprising developments. However, things have gotten complicated for the final day of the event, with Nintendo’s strict policies regarding streamers leading to some channels not showing their portion of the festivities.
Mere minutes before the Nintendo Direct E3 show was set to begin, Twitch’s official Twitter account announced that it would not stream the event, citing Nintendo’s previous statement regarding outside streamers. Twitch Gaming will be able to stream the event, Twitch itself won’t be airing it at all due to all of the co-creators being denied.
Nintendo tweeted from their official account that co-streaming today’s event is not allowed, differing from years past. While /twitchgaming has permission to air the show, we won’t be airing the event because all creators can’t co-stream. https://t.co/Cx7kNsIIdJ

Ultimately, Nintendo’s E3 showcase featured many surprises for the viewers who did tune in to its official broadcast. Longtime Tekken villain Kazuya Mishima was revealed to be the latest guest fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, new Metroid, Wario, and Zelda games for revealed and discussed, and Switch ports of titles like Life IsStrange, Dragonball Z: Kakarot, and the aforementioned Marvel’sGuardians Of The Galaxy were announced. Despite the lack of a rumored Switch Pro console, today’s E3 Nintendo Direct was a reasonably entertaining look into the future of Nintendo and its console.
Nintendo is intent on keeping all traffic for today’s E3 event directed at its official YouTube channel, where the show is currently airing. Anyone interested in seeing today’s Nintendo Direct event will need to tune in there, as it looks like it will be the only place to see what Nintendo has planned for the final day of E3 2021.
