Nintendo has just announced that OMORI, one of the highest-rated RPGs of 2020, is finally headed to the Nintendo Switch early next year. Released on Steam last December, OMORI tells the story of a young boy who suddenly awakens in a mysterious dream world, where he must overcome his fears and darkest secrets as he journeys his way toward one of many unlockable endings. OMORI features a traditional JRPG-style battle system that puts players in control of four unique protagonists with their own special skills and abilities, and status effects are tied to the main characters’ emotional states.

During the Nintendo Indie Direct event, fans were treated to a brief trailer for OMORI, which can be seen on the official Nintendo Of Europe Twitter account. This teaser revealed that OMORI is coming to the Nintendo Switch sometime in Spring 2022, and it features the game’s vibrant, hand-drawn art style and somber themes. This was one of the many games announced during today’s Nintendo Indie World Direct livestream, which gave players a look at a few smaller titles that are slated to arrive on the Switch in the coming year.

OMORI was met with high praise when it was first released last year for its look into serious topics like depression and anxiety, and it was nominated for several awards. It even won the DreamHack “Daringly Dramatic” category earlier this year. Now, players who missed out on this moving tale when it launched on PC last Christmas will get their chance to play OMORI on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this coming spring.
