On My Block season 3 introduced a new antagonist, Cuchillos, but the psychopathic leader of the Santos didn’t make it out alive. Though the character played by Ada Luz Pla looked as good as dead, there’s some speculation that she isn’t actually gone for good. Here’s how Cuchillos could return in season 4 of the Netflix series and why it might connect to a bigger storyline.

In the final moments of On My Block season 2, Monse, Cesar, Jamal, and Ruby were kidnapped and forced inside a mysterious van. On My Block wasted no time in answering who set up the kidnapping by introducing Cuchillos. Cesar realized she was the leader of the Santos, the gang he once tried to run from. The group was forced into agreeing to her demands in searching for Lil Ricky, who Cuchillos believed was alive. Though she offered the Roller World money in exchange, Cuchillos proved to be extremely dangerous if they didn’t meet her demands in time.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

What came to light over the course of On My Block season 3 was that Cuchillos was the mastermind behind the Roller World heist and she wanted to find Lil Ricky so that she could personally kill him. As Cesar’s brother, Spooky, continued leading within the Santos, he got more worried about the rival gang, 19th Street. He then realized Cuchillos was the reason his father went to jail so he tried to make a deal with 19th Street to take her out. They held true to the truce and 19th Street seemingly killed Cuchillos. The core four witnessed her body in a shallow grave before members of 19th Street lit her corpse on fire. According to co-creator Jeremy Haft (via Hollywood Life), the notion of Cuchillos faking her death gave him “another idea for season 4 that we hadn’t thought of.” Although it doesn’t seem logical considering what was shown, On My Block could have some tricks up its sleeves.

Why Cuchillos Would Have Faked Her Death

If Cuchillos did create an elaborate ploy to fake her death, the major question would be why she made the decision. Cuchillos and her followers set up Spooky, but they seemed to have sided with him. If the death was an act, that means she was working with 19th Street the entire time. In that case, there would have to be some kind of larger endgame that Cuchillos is trying to achieve. Total control over the Santos and 19th Street could be a possibility. Maybe she wanted the core four to witness her “body” so the news of her death spread. She could then pull the strings from the shadows without people like Spooky making trouble.

It wouldn’t be the first time in On My Block that a character has faked their death – if Cuchillos is truly still alive. While searching for Lil Ricky, Spooky and Jamal discovered that the man’s grave was empty. He was presumed dead but that seemed to no longer be the case. Cuchillos might have a future in the Lil Ricky mystery which could point to her return to the series. If the TV landscape taught us anything, it’s that some things are not always what they seem.
