Marvel’s Avengers are Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, who protect Earth from all kinds of threats, both big and small. The characters on One Piece sail the sea in hopes of finding fantastic treasures and incredible destinations in a world filled with unique characters, pirates, bounty hunters, and more. But, what happens when the two worlds collide? One artist imagined the stars of One Piece as Avengers themselves.

One Piece is one of the most popular manga and anime series of all-time. Since debuting in the pages of Shonen Jump Weekly back in 1997, the best-selling manga series ever and has been adapted into an anime series, films, and video games. Netflix is making a live-action version of One Piece in collaboration with series creator Eiichiro Oda. While there have been little details revealed thus far, the show will reportedly consist of 10 episodes and be produced by the streaming giant. With One Piece’s incredible popularity, there’s little surprise the characters have been drawn crossing over with another extremely popular franchise, Marvel’s Avengers.

The Avengers/One Piece crossover comes courtesy of Singapore-based artist Andy Choo. The Andimoo Studios illustrator did a handful of character mock-ups that mash-up the world of Marvel and that created by Oda. In the first piece, Monkey D. Luffy, Rorona Zoro, Mami, Ussop, Sanji, and other One Piece star fill-in for an Avengers-styled poster. Each of them takes on a different role in the superteam.

Here’s a closer group shot of the team.

In concept art, Choo showcased a more detailed look at some of the One Piece heroes. While taking a closer look at Luffy, he combines his origin with Captain America’s while cheekily crossing over some of the character’s actual origin in favor of his Avengers counterpart.

Rorona Zoro’s origin is changed that he wields three Mjolnir’s at once opposed to three swords – one of which, he lifts with his teeth. He’s said to have mastered the art of “San-Thor-Ryu.”

The undead musician Brook takes the role of Agent Coulson.

The sharpshooter Usopp has appropriately taken the role of Hawkeye.

Nami becomes Black Widow as her origin gets twisted with Natasha Romanoff’s.

The One Piece/Marvel’s Avengers crossovers not only look great but incredibly well thought out. The origin mash-ups make a surprising amount of sense considering this isn’t official in any way.
