Warning: contains spoilers for One-Punch Man

The war between the Monster Association and the S-class heroes of One-Punch Man has been truly savage, with massive devastation and casualties on both sides. As the newly upgraded Fuhrer Ugly begins the second round of fights with heroes, it seems one more name is getting added to the list of casualties.

While characters are often severely injured in One-Punch Man, death is rarely on the table, simply because of how resilient and powerful most of the heroes are. Even characters with few or no powers, like Mumen Rider, have been able to survive some horrible injuries and get back to work. That’s begun to change in this battle with the Monster Association, however, and Fuhrer Ugly has been the one responsible in almost every case. Sweet Mask was beaten and ripped in half, although his fate remains unknown due to his regenerative abilities; Tanktop Master had many of the bones in his arms broken, and at one point, his heart actually stopped. The monster also ripped through the executive’s hired mercenaries until finally being devoured by his own ally–a fact which only resulted in Fuhrer Ugly gaining a new set of acid-based powers when he escaped.

The partially digested Fuhrer Ugly, now dubbed “Barf President Ugly” to represent this, began a fresh assault on the heroes, specifically seeking out Bang, who had previously defeated him. Superalloy Blackluster stepped up to hold him off, only to be hit by the new Forearm Melting punch–an upgrade to the Forearm Destructing Punch used to defeat Tanktop Master. The attack lived up to its name, dealing some absolutely horrific damage to Blackluster, who had previously withstood the high-pressure water jets of Evil Natural Water without so much as a scratch. The swordmasters launched a doomed counterattack, correctly assuming that direct contact would be deadly, but Fuhrer Ugly spit at one of them, Zanbai, melting a hole all the way through his face. Atomic Samurai and Nichirin’s swords were also melted down to the hilt, leaving them defenseless.

With the heroes on hand, this upgraded form definitely poses a major new problem to the forces fighting for humanity, as almost everyone specializes in direct physical attacks or weapon-based attacks. Of those left, only Genos’ incineration cannon and potentially Tatsumaki’s psychic abilities would seem to stand a chance of defeating Fuhrer Ugly without massive collateral damage. Fuhrer Ugly seems to be very fixated on revenge against Bang, which may provide them an opportunity to get in a few surprise attacks, but Bang is currently busy facing off against the freshly monsterized Garou, and certainly has no interest in stopping. With Tatsumaki thoroughly exhausted, there may not be many options for dealing with Fuhrer Ugly in the short term.

All hope isn’t lost, though, as Saitama, Blast, and Flashy Flash are still out there somewhere and could return to the field of battle at any time. Numerous A-class heroes, such as Spring Mustachio, have also begun to arrive and may be able to help in other ways. Still, one thing is clear: while the heroes have gained the upper hand, the battle with the remnants of the Monster Association is far from over in One-Punch Man.
