Paul Rudd appears in an exciting new photo from the set of Only Murders in the Building season 2, teasing a potential cameo from the star. Only Murders in the Building released on Hulu last year and received an incredibly warm welcome from audiences, with season 2 confirmed almost immediately. The series follows Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez as their unlikely friendship sees them begin their own true-crime podcast, while they investigate the mysterious murder of Tim Kono, which took place in their apartment building, the Arconia. Season 1 ended on a huge cliffhanger which saw the trio escorted away in police cars after they were found standing over the body of their antagonistic building manager, Bunny.

Alongside Martin, Short, and Gomez, the series featured a handful of fun celebrity guest stars, including the likes of Tina Fey, Jane Lynch, and Sting. With Fey set to reprise her role as the popular podcast host Cinda Canning, season 2 has also seen a number of other exciting names added to its cast list. Cara Delevingne, Amy Schumer, and Shirley MacLaine are all expected to appear in season 2. Additionally, Michael Rapaport will play one of the officers involved in Bunny’s murder case. Now, another unexpected name is rumored to have joined the cast thanks to a newly shared photo.

The photo (shared via @GomezSource) which comes from Rapaport’s Instagram story, shows a number of the cast of Only Murders in the Building season 2 and appears to be taken on the series’ set. Martin, Short, and Gomez can all be seen, as well as Rapaport, Fey, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, alongside a few members of the crew. Most curious, however, is that Rudd can be also seen in the image, leading many fans to speculate that he will appear in the upcoming season. Check out the photo below.

Rudd’s appearance within the series has not been confirmed at this stage, with the photo certainly having taken a number of fans by surprise. Rudd is fresh off the production of his latest appearance within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which wrapped late last year and will see the star return as Scott Lang following his last MCU appearance in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. While details surrounding Only Murders in the Building season 2 have been few and far between over the last months, things appear to be kicking into gear as it was recently confirmed that season 2 would officially release on June 28.

While there is certainly a chance that Rudd may have only been visiting the set of Only Murders of the Building, it is not out of the realm of possibility that the Marvel star could have a brief cameo in the upcoming season. A short trailer recently teased the highly anticipated return of Charles (Martin), Oliver (Short), and Mabel (Gomez), as well as offering the first official peek at some of the season’s new additions, though Rudd was not among them. With its release now just months away, many will likely be keeping their fingers crossed that this potential cameo from Rudd comes to fruition.
