Outriders is a fun-fill co-op hybrid between Gears of War’s gunplay and Destiny’s loot system. With a little bit of Borderlands sprinkled on top, players will be finding all sorts of valuable gear and weapons as they venture around Enoch. Like any other reputable RPG, Outriders has a crafting mechanic to upgrade and mod player’s weapons and armor. They’ll need to gather specific resources on their adventure to do so.

When players are grinding a game like Outriders or Destiny, the goal is to make it to the end-game/soft-cap. There is always a better piece of gear around every corner. Before we dive into when to dismantle and when to sell, know that there’s really no point in upgrading if you haven’t reached the end-game. Spend a few resources to play around with different mods and learn the crafting system, but players should horde all their resources until they make it to the end. More on this later. For now, let’s talk about when to sell or dismantle gear in Outriders and which is best.

Outriders: Sell or Dismantle Gear?

There are multiple resources players will be gathering on their Outriders adventure. They are Iron, Leather, Titanium, Shards, and Scrap. Each plays a role when it comes to crafting, upgrading, and bartering in Outriders. Other than looting for these items, players can sell or dismantle their unused gear. But which is best?

It depends on the player’s needs. Selling gear at a vendor will earn players scrap, but dismantling gear will earn them everything else (depending on the rarity.) Again, there’s no need to be buying gear from vendors in the game’s early and mid-stages. Dismantle everything and stockpile as much raw material as possible.

The worst thing players can do is sink a bunch of raw material into a weapon they like only to find a better one after the next mission or side-quest. They’re now out a handful of titanium with nothing to show for it. Destiny players are all too familiar with this mechanic, and the same can be said for fans of Marvel’s: Avengers (although there aren’t many of those left.)

So, to answer the question bluntly. Which is better, dismantle or sell? Dismantle everything. Players will find scrap scattered all over the world. Items are also plentiful when re-playing missions and starting new adventures. If, for some reason, players are in a pinch for scrap, re-play a side-mission and sell the lot to any vendor. However, as mentioned, there’s no reason to be buying anything from vendors in Outriders until you’ve hit the soft-cap.
