The first two seasons made for tense, gritty television with some great performances, but will Outsiders season 3 happen? Outsiders is a series by WGN America (Salem) and follows the conflict behind a clan of outsiders and a small town in Kentucky. The Farrell clan have outcast themselves from society for centuries, and the show opens with one member of the family returning after taking time out to serve in the military.

It turns out a company wants to evict the clan so they can start mining operations on the mountain, which soon leads a bloody conflict with the town that keeps escalating. It also leads to tension and power struggles within the family itself. Outsiders has received solid reviews for its great cast, including David Morse (World War Z), tense atmosphere and some shocking twists, including the death of a major character in the second season.

WGN America Canceled Outsiders After Two Seasons

The second season ended on a number of cliffhangers, including the fate of a major character left up in the air, but sadly, the network canceled Outsiders shortly before the season 2 finale. Despite receiving decent ratings and work already starting on breaking down the scripts for season 3, WGN decided to focus their attention on other projects.

Could Outsiders Season 3 Appear On Another Network?

Fans quickly took to social media to rally behind Outsiders and creator Peter Mattei (Clarissa Explains It All) stated in the aftermath of the show’s cancellation they were seeking a new home, but will little sign of movement over two years after it was axed, it appears Outsiders season 3 won’t be happening.

What Would Have Happened In Outsiders Season 3?

The Outsiders season 2 finale also served a finale for the entire show and left behind a number of unresolved questions. The Farrell clan were infighting over the lack of a true leader and the fate of Kyle Gallner’s (A Nightmare On Elm Street 2010) Hasil was left unresolved, with the family assuming he was killed.

Outsiders season 3 would have revealed Hasil’s fate, with Little Foster (Ryan Hurst, Sons Of Anarchy) having to decide if he wanted to step up and led the clan – or if he wanted to leave with G’Win and raise their child in peace. Creator Mattei also suggested the struggle between the family and the town was eventually going to lead to a Waco-style standoff.
