On Parks and Recreation, Leslie Knope knew Ann was going to be a big part of her life the moment that she met her, and she was right. According to Leslie, Ann Perkins is a wonderful nurse and a “talented, brilliant, powerful musk ox.”

By the end of the series, Ann moves to Michigan to raise her child with Chris. But what if the two didn’t live happily ever after? What if storylines got crossed and Chris never gave Ann his sperm? As great as Chris is, there are plenty of other characters whom Ann could have ended up with in an alternate universe.

10 Andy Dwyer

In the pilot episode, viewers find out Ann and Andy were in a serious relationship and living together. As time went on, it was clear they were on two different pages in life and that Ann was far too mature for Andy. When Andy realized what he lost, he went into beast mode to become a better man. His version differed from what Ann anticipated but he was better than he was before. It’s not until he’s about to date April that Ann realizes Andy turned his whole life around.

If Andy accepted Ann’s kiss while he was in the hospital, these two could have had another shot. The only reason Andy fully remained as silly as he was is because April demanded it. Ann and Andy could have had a second chance at love…

9 Mark Brendanawicz

Aside from Chris, Mark was the closest Ann came to an engagement. She had Mark wrapped around her finger without even realizing it. And as great as everything was going, Ann knew she didn’t feel as strongly about their relationship as he did, so she ended it.

Now, this relationship interrupted her friendship with Leslie from time to time but overall, Ann and Mark were good together. If these two started dating down the road when Ann was healed from her breakup with Andy, they could have been endgame.

8 Ben Wyatt

It’s obvious that Ben and Leslie were one of the best parts of Parks and Recreation. However, if Ben and Leslie still despised each other as they did at the beginning of the series, Ann and Ben would have made a lovely pairing. They are both wildly smart, dedicated, and a little dorky. Dating Ben would be like dating the male version of Leslie. And Ann adores Leslie, so why wouldn’t these two have a shot at romance? Maybe they would end up married (his political dreams would likely outgrow their relationship) but they could have a nice year-long relationship.

7 Ron Swanson

As grumpy and cynical as Ron Swanson can be, he’s a softy at heart and has done some very thoughtful things for the parks and rec. office. While Ron and Ann don’t have too much of a relationship, it’s easy to picture them going on a few dates.

Ron could have taught Ann all about tools and woodworking so that she could independently take care of her household. Likewise, Ann could have taught Ron how to take care of himself a little better from a nurse’s standpoint. Their relationship would revolve around growing and learning from each other. They wouldn’t survive past three dates — but the possibilities are there!

6 Justin Anderson

Justin Anderson is an old friend of Ann’s who ended up having feelings for Leslie. He would routinely visit Leslie’s office and flirt with her until they started dating. Sadly, Ann wasn’t supportive of this relationship because she always considered Justin to be Leslie’s “back-up.” But what if Leslie listened to Ann and turned down Justin’s advances and he moved on to dating… Ann? These two would be a match made in heaven, according to her.

5 Bobby Newport

The introduction of Bobby Newport was a necessary storyline because it showed how great of a candidate Leslie was for city hall. Bobby was intelligent in his own way but relied too much on his family’s name and wealth.

Now, there’s no way that Ann would find his neediness sexy but one could see her appreciating all the lavish things he would do for her to win her heart. It would be similar to her relationship with Tom. She appreciated his lifestyle and his nice words but wasn’t in love with him.

4 Dennis Lerpiss

Dennis Lerpiss is first introduced in the episode “Bailout” as the owner of Pawnee’s video store. Leslie came to his rescue when he needed it, which means the two could have formed a friendship if he didn’t transform his video store into a porn store. Nevertheless, Dennis and Ann could have hit it off. Dennis was a caring, local businessman who seemed like a good listener. All Ann wanted was to be heard and respected. Dennis shouldn’t be discounted from Ann’s heart just because his business took a R-rated turn.

3 “Pistol” Pete Disellio

“Pistol Pete” liked Ann from the start. As a former high school basketball star, Pete was popular in the area and easy on the eyes. But it seemed like the only person who didn’t fall for his charm was Ann. If Ann was in a better place romantically, perhaps she would have given Pete a chance. Leslie, of course, used her friendly guidance and comedic one-liners to make this relationship happen but it failed. In a different world, if Ann said yes to a date with Pete, they could have been Pawnee’s “it” couple.

2 David Sanderson

The episode where Leslie is practicing for her first date with Dave Sanderson is one of the best episodes in the series. Dave was a good guy who loved Pawnee as much as Leslie, and she was nervous. And as viewers know, Dave and Leslie didn’t work out because he moved. But what if he hooked up with Ann when he came back to Pawnee? Dave is a nervous person but has to be brave because of his job, which sounds an awful lot like Ann. Due to his shy and dorky quirks, Ann could have found Dave endearing.

1 Joe

Joe was “the one that got away,” according to Donna. He was that one guy that had the ability to change Donna for the better but she was never ready for it. When she ran into him later in life, the timing felt right and the two started dating until they eventually got married. But what if Donna turned down Joe once again? What if she introduced Joe to her friend Ann instead? Joe is a respectful teacher with a good head on his shoulders. There’s not one part of Joe that Ann wouldn’t find attractive. The two would be great together!
