The official The Patrick Star Show trailer has finally been released, giving SpongeBob SquarePants fans a detailed look at the new Nickelodeon spinoff. The show stars Patrick’s original voice actor Bill Fagerbakke in the lead role, alongside franchise newcomers Tom Wilson, Cree Summer, Jill Talley, and Dana Snyder. Other classic SpongeBob voice actors are also returning for The Patrick Star Show, including Tom Kenny, Rodger Bumpass, Carolyn Lawrence, Clancy Brown, and Mr. Lawrence.

As the title implies, The Patrick Star Show stars the pink sea star Patrick, who decides to create a live television show for the residents of Bikini Bottom with the help of his quirky family. That family includes new characters like Patrick’s father Cecil Star (Wilson), his mother Bunny (Summer), his little sister Squidina (Talley), his grandfather GrandPat Star (Snyder), and Grandma Tentacles (Summer). Classic SpongeBob characters like Sandy Cheeks, Mr. Crabs, Squidward, and SpongeBob himself will also all feature in the show.

A new The Patrick Star Show trailer has been released by Nickelodeon, teasing all the wild antics Patrick and his family will be getting up to in the new cartoon. There are Viking battles, bad hair days, volcano eruptions, and plenty of classic SpongeBob physical cartoon comedy gags. The show premieres on Nickelodeon on July 9 at 7:00 pm (ET/PT). Check out the Patrick Star Show trailer below.

SpongeBob is as active of a franchise as it’s ever been, with The Patrick Star Show being the second spinoff to release this year. The first, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, premiered on the Paramount+ streaming platform in March. That series takes place prior to the events of the original show, making it more of a prequel. While The Patrick Star Show will likely also be available for streaming later, episodes will air first on Nickelodeon, ensuring there’s still new SpongeBob content available for non-streaming viewers.

Where Kamp Koral adopted a new art style to distinguish itself from SpongeBob, The Patrick Star Show is staying to the original’s classic cartoon look. That makes sense, given that the new series will be much more off a proper spinoff/sequel series. It’s unclear as of now how present the other older characters will be, but it seems from the trailer that Patrick and his family will be taking up most of the screen time. Patrick has always been one of the most beloved SpongeBob characters, so it should be interesting to see if he’s really strong enough to carry his own show. Fans will be able to judge for themselves when The Patrick Star Show premieres on Nickelodeon on July 9.
