Vin Diesel’s new song as the background of Brian O’Connor’s send-off in Fast & Furious 7 totally changes the scene. In 2015, the long-running car-centric movie franchise released its seventh installment, but it also marked the final outing of original cast member, Paul Walker, who died in 2013 in the middle of production. With this, director James Wan had to find a way to wrap up O’Connor’s story which resulted in arguably one of the most heartfelt scenes in the Fast Saga.

After successfully fending off Deckard Shaw’s (Jason Statham) attempt to exact revenge against Dom’s crew, the gang comes together for their traditional final scene. However, instead of the typical meal that they share following their adventures, Fast & Furious 7 had to change things up to set-up Brian’s farewell. They all gather on the beach as they watched Brian and Mia near the shore, excited to start a new family life, effectively retiring from the team. This wrote Brian out of the franchise without needing to kill him. In his final scene, Brian and Dom drive side-by-side until the roads diverged and they have to part ways.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Fast & Furious 7 used the song “See You Again” by Whiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth in the aforementioned sequence, but in light of Diesel’s new song titled “Feel Like I Do,” some fans edited the scene and used it instead. The clip is shared on Reddit by user with the handle u/chawx, check it out below:

The song “See You Again” was specially commissioned for Fast & Furious 7 in light of Walker’s passing and just like the film which made more than $1.5 billion at the global box office, it also became a worldwide hit. Years after it was first released, it remains to be a radio mainstay and a fan-favorite. Considering the fact that it was particularly made for the said scene in the movie, it fits perfectly as its background, so naturally, without it, it feels like an entirely different sequence altogether. Using Diesel’s newly released pop song that’s more upbeat definitely changes the vibe as seen in the above video.

The Fast Saga may have been able to get away with sending off O’Connor on a happy note in Fast & Furious 7, but they might have to revisit that idea come Fast & Furious 9. Fate of the Furious didn’t feature Mia which checks out with the idea that she and Brian are still laying low, living a quiet life together. However, with the trailers for the upcoming movie featuring Dom’s younger sister back in action, questions about Brian’s whereabouts are inevitable and is something that they need to address moving forward.
