Person Of Interest’s “The Fix” introduced recurring character Zoe Morgan. Prior to creating Person Of Interest for CBS, Jonathan Nolan was best known for collaborating with his brother Christopher on several projects, including The Dark Knight. Person Of Interest deals with an ex-CIA agent named Reese (Jim Caviezel) who is recruited by an eccentric billionaire named Finch (Michael Emerson) to investigate the crime predictions handed out by A.I. The Machine.

Finch created The Machine to sort through vast quantities of data to predict crimes, but while Person Of Interest would follow something of a procedural format in its early seasons, it focused on more existential themes as it progressed. The series came to an end in 2016 after five seasons, with Nolan them moving to a reboot of Westworld for HBO. The first season was acclaimed for expanding on themes Nolan had explored on Person Of Interest such as A.I. sentience, though later seasons have been met with a more mixed response.

A big part of what made Person Of Interest work was its likable supporting cast, including Shaw and hacker Root. Season 1 episode 6 “The Fix” introduced Zoe Morgan, a “fixer” who would become a recurring figure in the series. Played by Paige Turco (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze), “The Fix” sees Reese become Zoe’s driver after The Machine pulls her number. Zoe is hired by a pharmaceutical firm to recover a recording that could cause them harm if it got out. Zoe attempts to hand it over without listening to its contents, but when they try to kill her, Reese saves her life.

Zoe and the team come to learn her employers at Virtanen Pharmaceuticals have been covering up the deaths of people using their new drug. They also murdered employee Dana Miller when she tried to expose them, with Dana being someone Finch was previously unable to save. Person Of Interest’s “The Fix” sees Zoe help take down the company, as revenge for Dana’s death and the fact they tried to kill her too. Zoe’s work eventually leads to the company’s CFO being arrested, while Finch further damages Virtanen by short-selling their stock.

Zoe would later reappear on Person Of Interest, helping Finch and the team out from time to time using her connections, while she and Reese became occasional lovers too. “The Fix” also featured a subplot where Detective Carter (Taraji P. Henson) investigates the murder of a mobster with the same weapon he once used to kill a woman named Marlene Elias. It turns out mob boss Carl Elias was responsible, who would soon become another recurring character on the show.
