In order to unlock the fight against the twin wardens, the player must have already completed the main story. This fight is only available in New Game Plus. Head into Mementos and speak with Caroline at the top floor of the Velvet Room. Here, the player can begin the battle. Although, this is one of the hardest fights in the game, so it is recommended to head here later in the game. It is recommended to be in the mid-60s in terms of levels and contains several high-level Personas. Having Personas with Drain is ideal in this situation. Here’s how to defeat Caroline and Justine.

Caroline and Justine Secret Boss Fight in Persona 5

When preparing for this battle, its important to have maxed out the Star and the Death confidants. Coming in with Yoshitune is recommended for this battle as well. The player will need to fuse Personas to unlock that one. In this fight, the player will use tons of SP, so purchasing Coffee and Takedemics from Takemi Shop is necessary to succeed.

The fight begins with Caroline and Justine alternating attacks for the first 6 turns. Use a Persona that is resistant to gun attacks and physical attacks. Caroline has a move that damages the entire party while Justine does 3 low damage hits to the entire party. If the entire team is knocked down all at once, Caroline and Justine will unleash an all-out-attack and the game will be over. Make sure to save before jumping into this fight as well, since it may take a few attempts to succeed. The player must do 2700 damage within these first 6 turns, if not, the twin wardens will instantly kill the entire team.

After the first 6 turns, they will begin their next phase. Both will begin to switch their attacks so they are strong against the teams Persona. They will constantly switch their attacks so in Joker’s case, make sure to constantly switch Persona’s to avoid being stunned. The player must get 2700 damage again but this time within 5 turns. If not, the player will be defeated. Use buffs to dish out more damage quickly.

Once this phase is over, they will begin to attack with Curse and Bless attacks. This is about the halfway point of the fight. They’ll begin this phase by fully healing. Keep on attacking for an additional 2700 damage and this might be the best time to heal up the party fully. Make sure to use Coffee to restore some SP, it is important for the next part of the fight.

The next phase has Caroline and Justine dishing out more damage than ever. This functions as a long game of bop-it, where the player will need to remember the move order so they can switch Personas and avoid being stunned. These are the moves Caroline and Justine will use.

  • Caroline: Vorpal Blade, Blazing Hell, Wild Thunder, Psycho Blast, Divine Judgement
  • Justine: Riot Gun, Diamond Dust, Vacuum Wave, Cosmic Flare, Demonic Decree

In the next 5 turns, players should focus on defending and switching out Personas. Healing is ideal in this situation. After Justine’s Nuclear attack, use Magic Ointment. The next attacks to come out of them will be Bless and Curse attacks. The Magic Ointment reflects it back at them, doing a massive amount of damage. This should get the player to the 2700 damage staple. This will knock them into their 6th and final phase.

In this phase, they will produce the same attacks as before but this time, they will come out at a random order, making it harder to prepare for what’s to come. It’s important to have a high defense stat boost in this situation. It is very important to kill them both at the same time. If one twin survives, they will heal their partner, making the battle go on for much longer. It has to be in the same turn, it does not have to be with the same move. Also, this has to be under 50 turns. Once the 50th turn comes around, they will kill the Phantom Thieves. Once they are both dead, the battle will come to an end and the player will be victorious. There are various rewards given to the player depending on how long the player took to finish the fight. Here are the rewards.

  • Within 11 Turns: Expedite Ring
  • Within 21 Turns: 20 Balm of Life and aExpedite Rings
  • Within 31 Turns: 5 Bead Chain, Balm of Life, Expedite Ring
  • Within 41 Turns: 3 Soma, Bead Chain, Balm of Life, Expedite Ring
  • Defeating At All: Bookmark, Omnipotent Orb, 10 Soul Food, Soma, Bead Chain, Balm of Life, Expedite Ring.

This is the hardest fight in the game and will take even the most hardcore Persona 5 players several attempts before nailing the fight. What is important is preparing for the battle with building confidants for the best equipment. Persona 5 does a great job of combining turn-based RPG combat with building relationships like a life simulator. Both gameplay features go together to improve one another. Building a relationship with certain characters unlocks new items and abilities for the Personas in the Metaverse. This was one of the best RPGs to come out from this generation of consoles and continues to thrive with its upcoming definitive edition with Persona 5 Royal. This game will provide new content and many players of the original are very excited for this title release. Taking another trip to Shujin Academy and this fictional Japan is amongst many’s most anticipated releases for the year.
