Here’s a quick guide to the cast and characters of animated kids’ series Pete The Cat. Created by artist James Dean and inspired by his own pet kitty, Pete The Cat started life in a series of picture books authored by storyteller/musician Eric Litwin and illustrated by Dean. Several books in the series have ranked on the New York Times Best Seller list and have won a number of awards including the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award.

In 2017 Amazon Studios teamed with Phineas And Ferb co-creator Jeff “Swampy” Marsh to bring Pete The Cat to the small screen with holiday special A Groovy New Year, which was followed by a full series that debuted on Amazon Prime in late 2018. Like the books on which it’s based, the series follows the adventures of an unflappable cat named Pete as he learns about new things with the help of family and friends.

Since its premiere Pete The Cat has spawned two further holiday specials – A Very Groovy Christmas and A Very Groovy Valentine’s – that featured voice cameos from Jason Mraz and Dave Matthews. As its guest stars suggest, the series is musically driven with each episode offering a catchy song or two. Befittingly, Pete The Cat’s cast boasts several talented musicians. Here’s who’s in the cast of the Amazon Original alongside which characters they voice.

Jacob Tremblay – Pete

Good Boys and Doctor Sleep star Jacob Tremblay is the voice of title character Pete – a skateboarding, guitar-playing cat who is in a band with his friends.

Elvis Costello – Pete’s Dad

Pete’s absentminded, saxophone-playing dad is voiced by Grammy-winning British musician Elvis Costello who also sings the theme song for Pete The Cat.

Diana Krall – Pete’s Mom

Pete comes from a very musical family; his mom is in a cat punk band. She’s voiced by Grammy-winning Canadian jazz singer Diana Krall, who is married to Elvis Costello in real life.

Don Was – Neville

Neville is a dog and acts as the narrator of Pete The Cat. Don Was – musician, record producer and co-founder of funk-rock band Was (Not Was) – is the man behind Neville’s voice.

Alyson Stoner – Callie Cat

Aspiring rock star Callie Cat is Pete’s friend and bandmate. She’s voiced by Alyson Stoner who previously worked with Pete The Cat producer Jeff “Swampy” Marsh on Phineas And Ferb.

Atticus Shaffer – Grumpy Toad

Atticus Shaffer – who also played Brick on ABC sitcom The Middle – voices Pete’s friend Grumpy Toad. As his name suggests, Grumpy Toad is a bit of a pessimist.

Indie Nameth – Emma the Pug

Pete’s pal Emma is a French-Canadian pug hailing from Quebec. She’s voiced by Indie Nameth who also voices aardvark Lucy in Cartoon Network animation Summer Camp Island.

Juliet Donenfeld – Sally Squirrel

Rounding out the main voice cast of Pete The Cat is Juliet Donenfeld as Pete’s hyperactive friend Sally Squirrel. Donenfeld also plays Kaylee Ehrmantraut on Better Call Saul.
