Phasmophobia: Mimic Ghost Guide (Tips, Strategies, & Weaknesses)

The Mimic is a ghost type in Phasmophobia that can perform the same actions as other ghosts and sometimes shares the same evidence indicators as the ghosts it mirrors. Players hoping to correctly identify a Mimic will need to rule out any ghost it imitates by using different investigative tools to find evidence. It may take a bit longer than other contracts to find a Mimic because they are more difficult to confirm.

Mimic ghosts in Phasmophobia have four types of evidence: Ghost Orbs, Freezing Temperatures, Spirit Box, and Fingerprints. In Nightmare mode, the Mimic will have three pieces of evidence which almost always includes the Ghost Orbs. The Ghost Orbs aren’t actually listed as an evidence type, but leaving orbs is indicated as the Mimic’s weakness. The evidence presented will usually overlap with other ghosts that the Mimic is behaving like. Players can eliminate types of ghosts by confirming evidence indicators that other spirits don’t have listed.

In order to identify a Mimic ghost, players will need to use a Spirit Box, a Thermometer, UV Lights, and Video Cameras. This set of equipment will allow players to find every type of evidence that the Mimic ghost presents in Phasmophobia. Along with using equipment to find evidence, players will need to try to exploit the Mimic’s weakness while doing everything possible not to anger it. The Mimic can change which ghost it’s imitating in the middle of an investigation, but it won’t change while a Hunt is ongoing.

Mimic Weaknesses in Phasmophobia

Due to its nature, the Mimic ghost can be agitated by essentially anything that angers other types of ghosts in Phasmophobia, so it can be difficult to avoid a Hunt. To lower the possibility of triggering a Hunt, players can keep the lights on, keep speaking to a minimum, have a flame in the ghost room, and turn off electronics that aren’t needed. Players should also be prepared for early Hunts in case the Mimic is imitating a Demon.

The biggest weakness the Mimic has is the trail of Ghost Orbs it leaves behind, so players should have Video Cameras set up where there’s activity. If players are having a hard time finding the ghost, they can use a Cursed Possession like a Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia to locate it. Using additional items may anger the ghost and trigger a Hunt, so players should be prepared to run or hide at any given moment when dealing with a possible Mimic.

The easiest way to identify the Mimic is by finding all four pieces of available evidence on Normal mode, or three on Nightmare mode. Other ghost types will have three or two evidence indicators depending on the difficulty level players are on. Avoiding actions that anger ghosts while finding multiple types of evidence will help to quickly eliminate other spirits and make it easy to correctly identify the Mimic in Phasmophobia.
