In Pretty Little Liars, Alison DiLaurentis was the glue that held the main characters together. She made these friends feel loved, and she was loved by one of them in a deeper way: Emily Fields. Yes, Em had a crush on Ali, so she was heartbroken when this “it girl” vanished. In the end, though, Ali came around, realized her true feelings, and proposed to Emily.

Some fans were against this relationship, though, and over the years, Emily had flings and such with several other eligible women. She also came into contact with some characters who she could have been with… instead of Ali.

10 Sabrina

Sabrina worked at The Brew and seemed to have a connection with Emily. She paid for her parking, she flirted, and the two ended up having coffee, hanging out and talking several times. Plus, look at her: She was a cool and cute character who had a laid-back and sweet personality, which meshed well with Emily’s.

There is no reason that these two should not have given it a real go, except for the fact that Ali got pregnant with Emily’s babies. In another world or time or dimension or place, though, this could have been a success!

9 Mona

Hear this out: What if Mona and Em had been a thing? There were definitely some ups and downs with this complex character throughout the series, but in the end, she was a true asset. She cared about the Liars, especially Hanna, and they may not have won the game without her wit and wisdom.

A spunky and smart gal like this could have easily had a relationship with Em, and they would have made a very attractive couple.

8 Paige

Another serious relationship Emily was in was with Paige. Now, this chick did start out as an enemy on the swim team and did even try to drown Em. Somehow, though, they clicked and fell in love.

As their story progressed, it was clear that Paige cared for Emily. And even though not every relationship is perfect, this could have been better, overall, than Em’s marriage to Ali (which ended up failing, as stated in Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists).

7 Samara

For a hot second, Em had a fling with Samara Cook. They actually met while Emily was helping Paige come out, as Samara worked for an LGBTQ+ pride group.

A messed with what they had, causing this side character to only appear for a brief time. Since the Liars beat A, though, it seems like Emily could have reconnected with this pretty girl!

6 Katherine Daly

During Season 7 of PLL, Katherine Daly was introduced; her father was the senator of New York, and Mona connected her with Hanna, so that Han could make her the perfect dress.

Was she into women? Was she single? Was she even a nice person? None of that was made super clear in her short scenes… but this could have been a relationship that, again, was better than the one Em had with Alison.

5 Claire

Someone else went missing around the time that Ali did, and that was Sara Harvey. And one of Sara’s friends was Claire, a character who told Emily that she actually did not like Sara, even wished for her to die and thought horribly of herself for that.

As fans know, Emily ended up not caring for Sara either, and the fact that Claire opened up to Em like that says something; if the show had taken a different path, who knows… These two could have ended up together.

4 Zoey

Through Samara, Emily met Zoey. This character wore lots of makeup and enjoyed playing cards, and A forced Emily to give Zoey her number, which angered Quinn, another friend in the group.

Of course, A tried to mess things up, and it all was awkward, since Emily liked Samara first. Still, these two may have worked out, as well, since this was another gorgeous girl put in Em’s path.

3 Zoe

There was another Zoe, who worked with Habitat for Humanity, was played by Rumer Willis and spent time with Emily in Haiti. She went out of her way to go to Rosewood, grab coffee with Em, brag about Em, and invite her to Nicaragua.

Unfortunately, that was the only time she was seen, but these two clearly had a very friendly relationship. Could it have been more? Could it have gone deeper? Could she have been The One?

2 Coach Fulton

One of Emily’s swim coaches was Coach Fulton, who also taught gym at Rosewood High School. Athletic leaders can be so influential in people’s lives, and it was evident that Emily and this teacher respected one another. Furthermore, it seemed that Coach Fulton found Paige to be annoying, which surely made some fans like her even more.

Despite any age difference, this is yet another possible thing that could have happened on this show. These two shared an interest in swimming, and when Emily returned to coach, they could have led the team to success together!

1 Missy Franklin

And last but not least, there was Missy Franklin! This woman is an actual Olympic swimmer, and she guest starred on Pretty Little Liars. Her one scene with Emily sparked the idea for this couple. Sure, in reality, Franklin married swimmer Hayes Johnson in 2019, but back in the day… on this show… Man, what could have been!
