Momo Yaoyorozu is definitely one of My Hero Academia‘s most beloved characters, ranking highly in all of the series’ popularity polls. While her unflinching dedication to responsibility might make her seem stuck-up, she’s actually a compassionate leader whose commitment to practicality is intended as a way of helping others.

Given that description and her distinctive design, it’s no surprise cosplayers were so enamored with the character, but it is surprising that so many of these cosplayers went to unbelievable efforts to create a depiction that would be true to her. Make sure to check out their social media pages at the links provided; they completely deserve it.

10 Nooneenonicos

This fabulous Momo cosplay is by nooneenonicos, who brings to the character the perfect amount of warmth and confidence. It’s a cosplay that just oozes style, from Momo’s signature hair—something we still can’t figure out how cosplayers manage to perfect—to the red-and-pink lighting illuminating her surroundings. One extremely anime-accurate detail is the makeup, as Momo’s eyebrows and eyelashes, in particular, perfectly split the distance between cartoonish and realistic.

9 Yokaifleur

Momo has always been one of the My Hero Academia series’ most inspirational characters for her steadfastness and commitment, and this cosplay’s auteur (Yokaifleur) illustrates just that with her assertive pose. Momo’s sports festival outfit is an extremely good fit for this particular cosplay—apparently, it originally belonged to cosplayer iro.cos—and it’s clear that Yokaifleur wears it with pride.

The hair is another element that’s done justice; it makes the cosplay instantly identifiable. Photographer Tom Twyford did a great job of structuring the shot, leading to a final product that’s utterly fantastic.

8 Yuretao

Cosplayer Yuretao gives off total Momo energy in this cosplay shot, which focuses on the character’s more glamorous side by giving her piercing eyelashes and a charismatic gaze.

While all these cosplayers have gone above and beyond in matching Momo’s hair, Yuretao particularly does a good job of making it look “real” while still keeping it accurate enough to the series not to lose Momo’s individuality.

7 Danielle DeNicola

Danielle DeNicola is an extremely popular cosplayer, and part of that is because she’s so good at fitting into any role. It’s clear that she always goes the extra mile in her cosplays, even with the littlest details.

Her dazzling cosplay of Momo—which we can’t actually show here, as it’s just a bit too saucy—almost feels braggadocious, like she’s trying to tell other cosplayers that, if Momo existed in real life, this is what she’d look like. Perfect hair, a great costume, even the posh backdrop fits. This cosplay is a recipe for success, and DeNicola is the chef.

6 Yipnotiq

Cosplayer Yipnotiq stuns in this wonderful Momo cosplay—again, just a bit too saucy to display—that serves as a perfect physical illustration of the character; it takes real creative planning, which Yipnotiq outlines in her Instagram post on the cosplay, to take an entire cannon with you to a convention!.

No detail is overlooked, and photographer KD Nguyen clearly made sure their shot of the scene was a testament to that.

5 Unique-sora

Unique-sora’s casual cosplay has a lot going for it. The hair is arranged amazingly, and the outfit, while not something that’s actually showed up in the series, seems like something Momo would wear, especially since it’s clearly a choice inspired by her hero costume.

Posing for the camera with a mesmerizing stare that’s equal parts thoughtful and classy, Unique-sora makes the perfect Momo.

4 Tanzoir

Cosplayer Tanzoir is rocking the Christmas sweater look in this whimsical TodoMomo cosplay that casts fellow cosplayer Silje Danielsen as her holiday beau. Sophieriis, a cosplayer who’s frequently collaborated with the two, is responsible for the stellar photography.

Once again, the main talking points for this one are Momo’s hair and her makeup, as both are executed in a way that makes it clear Tanzoir loves the character and is trying to stay as honorable as possible to her original look while also exploring new avenues for her. Todoroki looks great too, but Momo is the one taking center stage.

3 Acky_cosplay

Acky_cosplay nails Momo’s cheerleader look with a nifty cosplay that captures the character’s bright and cheerful personality extremely well. The radiant smile that Momo gives whenever she’s excited about something looks exactly the same here as it does in the series.

Of course, this wouldn’t be a Momo cosplay without an over-the-top hairstyle, but this one really does work—even considering all the other fashionable takes on Momo’s hair we’ve seen so far, it still stands on its own.

2 Xena Kai

Xena Kai has cosplayed Momo numerous times, but this one is definitely her most self-aware. She’s cosplaying as Momo, wearing a shirt with her previous cosplay as Momo on it, while holding a Momo Funko Pop. How can you not admire that?

It’s fantastic self-promotion—she includes in the post a link to buy the t-shirt in her online store—but it’s also a stunning cosplay.

1 Cobo2431

Cosplayer Cobo2431’s take on Momo is almost scary—and we definitely can’t show it here. But, trust us when we say that she looks so much the part that she might as well be the spirit of Momo incarnate.

From the solid prop design to the glittering costume to, again, hair that manages to look simultaneously fashionable and fascinating, this piece checks off all the boxes in a way that others simply can’t manage to.
