Rowlet is one of the starters in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and trainers can evolve it into Dewott fairly early on. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a massive departure from what the mainline series is known for. This entry focuses much more on open-world exploration, defeating bosses, and completing the Pokédex. Since this acts as a prequel story to Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, it takes place in the Sinnoh region and even has new forms for a handful of classic Pokémon.

At the start, trainers will be given the chance to choose between three different Pokémon, Cyndaquil, Oshawatt, and Rowlet. This will act as the trainer’s partner Pokémon for the game. After the players join the Galaxy Team Survey Corps, they can make their decision. Rowlet is a Grass/Flying-type Pokémon, giving it weaknesses to Fire, Poison, Flying, and Rock attacks. Ice-type attacks do four times the damage towards Rowlet but it resistances Water, Fighting, and Grass-type attacks. Rowlet is also completely immune to Ground-type attacks, making it a solid choice for a handful of challenging battles. Fortunately, it won’t take too long before players can evolve it.

To evolve Rowlet, the player will need to raise their Rowlet to level 17. This will evolve it into its secondary form, Dartrix. This should happen naturally as the player progresses through the story. Within the first three hours, Rowlet should have enough XP to evolve from capturing Pokémon and filling the Pokédex. In all the other Pokémon games, Datrix would then evolve directly into Decidueye, but in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Datrix will evolve into Hisuian Decidueye. There are a handful of new Hisuian Pokémon players will find when exploring the region.

Choosing Hisuian Decidueye in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Alolan Decidueye and Hisuian Deideye have different typings from one another. While Alolan Deciduee is a Grass and Ghost-type Pokémon, Hisuian will turn into a Grass and Fighting-type. Dartrix will evolve into this new form after it reaches level 34. It’s currently unknown how Game Freak is going to handle Pokémon Home with Pokémon Legends: Arceus. This is likely how trainers will be able to obtain an Alolan Decidueye in this new area.

Hisuian Decidueye has two different abilities it can learn, Overgrow and Long Reach. With Overgrow, the power of Grass-type moves is increased by 50% when its HP is low. Long Reach allows them to use their moves without making contact with the target. For example, a Fighting-type move is normally a physical move. The opponent Pokémon can hold an item like a Rocky Helmet, which damages the Pokémon upon touching it. Since this is a hidden ability, it will be much more challenging to obtain.
