Pokémon fan and evident artist recently uploaded a series of paintings showing off their seasonal collection of Bulbasaur artwork, which is both adorable and a perfect way to usher in the four seasons. The hugely popular Pokémon franchise often gives way to gorgeous fan art homages, with many fans taking to a variety of different mediums to express their affinity for Pokémon.

Bulbasaur (along with the other original Pokémon series starters) is often the subject of fan art, in part due to its cute appearance and unique plant-like bulb on its back. The bulb is frequently altered in fan art, so that Pokémon community artists can bring their own twist to the iconic Grass-type. As a result, Bulbasaur is also used to represent different seasons; such as one fan creation that turned the starter Pokémon into a Halloween-themed witch, complete with a pumpkin replacement for its bulb. Similarly, another fan combined Bulbasaur with another Pokémon’s image – Cherubi – to create an adorable-looking fusion between the two Grass-types. Now, another fan is utilizing Bulbasaur’s appearance (especially the bulb on its back) to celebrate the four seasons.

Artist cremechii recently uploaded four paintings featuring Bulbasaur – all of which represent different seasons. Their first graphic shows an endearingly clumsy (and leaf green) Bulbasaur with a strawberry for a bulb on its back, representing the spring season. cremechii’s next painting depicts a Bulbasaur with its signature turquoise coloring, but with a peach bulb; clearly a reference to summer, given a peach’s peak ripeness occurring in the summer. The last two Bulbasaurs’ seasons are easier to identify; with one white-colored Bulbasaur carrying a Christmas tree on its back to represent the wintertime, and a pumpkin-carrying Bulbasaur aptly referencing autumn.

cremechii has showcased their Bulbasaur creations in the past, having posted a different variation of their autumnal Bulbasaur for this past Halloween. Just like their recent post, their Halloween Bulbasaur is adorably playful – a cuteness only capable of being matched by the grinning jack-o’-lantern perched on its back. cremechii’s artwork is a great example of the depth and extent of Pokémon designs, seeing as just a singular Bulbasaur (out of nearly 900 existing Pokémon) is capable of being altered in a variety of visually appealing ways.

Although a Bulbasaur like those in cremechii’s artwork probably won’t make an appearance in a game any time soon, new regional variants of existing Pokémon are steadily rolling out ahead of the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The game has already unveiled several new Hisuian variants, such as Voltorb, Growlithe, and more. Perhaps fans can one day hope to see as cute of a Bulbasaur those of cremechii’s in a real Pokémon game.
