Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl include the blue and black Water-type Pokémon, Lumineon. This Pokémon can either be found and caught in the overworld or evolved from a Finneon. Players looking to catch Lumineon will need to capture a Finneon with a Good Rod, or catch Lumineon directly with the Super Rod in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

In order to obtain the Good Rod and Super Rod, players will first need to find the Old Rod, which is located outside of Jubilife City. The Old Rod attracts mainly low-level Magikarp, so players will need to get the Good Rod as soon as possible. Head to Route 209, which connects Hearthome City and Velistone City, and find the fisherman on the dock. Players can speak to him to obtain the Good Rod for free, then they can start catching better Water-type Pokémon.

Finneon, the first form of Lumineon, can be found and caught with the Good Rod in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Finneon spawns in the water near Routes 205, 218, 219, 220, and 221, as well as Canalave City, Iron Island, Fuego Ironworks, and Valley Windworks. Finneon will evolve into Lumineo at level 31, and players can level the Pokémon by battling while it’s in their party. Alternatively, players can catch Lumineon directly, but they will need to do a few things first.

Catching Lumineon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Lumineon can only be caught with the Super Rod, which players can obtain by completing the Sinnoh Dex, obtaining the National Dex, beating the Elite Four, and unlocking the Fight Area. In the Fight Area, there’s a Fisherman outside of a cave that will give players the Super Rod. Once the Super Rod is in hand, players can go to any of the Routes or other spots where Finneon spawns in order to fish for Lumineon.

The easiest way to catch Lumineon is to use a special type of PokéBall in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, such as a Quick Ball, Dive Ball, or Net Ball. Quick Balls need to be thrown at the start of the battle to have the highest catch rate. Net and Dive Balls increase the chances of catching a Water-type Pokémon or a Pokémon that lives underwater, so they should work well for Lumineon. If using a Net or Dive Ball, players will need to drain Lumineon’s health before attempting to capture it. Lumineon is weak against Electric and Grass Pokémon, but players need to be careful not to drain its health completely and knock it out before catching it.

Lumineon is a Water-type Pokémon that players can either evolve from Finneon or find and catch in the wild. Lumineon appears in a variety of locations, but it can only be caught using a Super Rod. Instead, players can find and catch Finneon using a Good Rod and evolve it at level 31 into Lumineon. There are a few ways players can obtain Lumineon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
