Rhyhorn is one of the many Pokémon featured in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl that has additional means to find and catch one. Rhyhorn has been a staple Pokémon across the series ever since its release alongside Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green. Additionally, Rhyhorn’s evolved form, Rhydon, holds a special place in the Pokémon series as the first-ever Pokémon to be designed. The original release of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl brought Rhyhorn a new final evolution as well, something that occurred with a few different species of Pokémon that were featured in earlier games.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Rhyhorn’s new final evolved form that was released in the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl name is Rhyperior. In the first generation of Pokémon, Rhydon was considered to be one of the strongest Pokémon available for trainers to include in their party. Seeing it evolve further into Rhyperior only made seeking a Rhyhorn that much more desirable. Although Sinnoh is full of Water and Grass-type Pokémon, finding, catching, and evolving Rhyhorn into Rhyperior will serve trainers well as they collect every gym badge and defeat the Elite Four.

One of the many quality of life changes brought to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl was the addition of alternate means to catch Pokémon, including Rhyhorn. Although Rhyhorn was available to find and catch in the original games, players had to first receive the National Dex in order to head to the Battle Park. While trainers still need to grab the National Dex in Pokémon BDSP before they access the Battle Park, they no longer need it in order to find and catch a Rhyhorn.

How To Find (& Catch) Rhyhorn In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Similar to the original games, players can find and catch a Rhyhorn either on Route 227 or at Stark Mountain. These are both areas within the Battle Park, but fortunately, Rhyhorn can be found much earlier thanks to the Grand Underground. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s Grand Underground received a massive overhaul in the remakes, including an array of biomes that contain many different species of Pokémon. These biomes also allow trainers to capture Pokémon that were previously unobtainable before receiving the National Dex, like Rhyhorn. As soon as players receive the Explorer Kit in Eterna City, they can access the Grand Underground to find and catch a Rhyhorn.

Rhyhorn can be found in the following Grand Underground caves in Pokémon BDSP:

  • Spacious Cave
  • Rocky Cave
  • Sandsear Cave
  • Sunlit Cavern
  • Big Bluff Cavern
  • Typhlo Cavern

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
