An amazingly artistic fan has transformed their Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl experience into beautiful illustrations. The 2021 titles serve as modern remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, which both originally released back in 2006. Connections between Pokémon BDSP and Legends: Arceus also tie the remakes into the franchise’s newest installment, creating an even more in-depth monster collection universe to explore.

While they do introduce modern graphics, Pokémon BDSP otherwise serve as faithful replicas of the original Diamond and Pearl. Gameplay is essentially identical, and the story of the two games remains largely the same across all versions. The two titles task players with exploring and capturing Pokémon across the Sinnoh region, which is also featured in Pokémon Legends: Arceus as the ancient Hisui region. Pokémon BDSP and Legends: Arceus therefore share many subtle connections, with Jubilife Village from Arceus eventually growing into BDSP’s Jubilee City among other details. Pokémon BDSP even added Arceus in a post-launch update, further strengthening the bond between the two projects by allowing players to hunt down the Alpha Pokémon.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

To commemorate their journey through the Sinnoh region, Reddit user ANDZL has transformed Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl into a series of anime images. The style is highly reminiscent of the long-running Pokémon animated series, except Ash Ketchum is replaced by ANDZL’s player character. The adventurers trainer can be seen napping next to Piplup, going on a terrifying aerial ride on Charizard and getting electrocuted by Minun. The adorable and emotional journey across Pokémon BDSP naturally ends with ANDZL taking their rightful place as the new Pokémon champion, with their ever-present starter sidekick Piplup in tow.

While Pokémon BDSP launched last year, developer ILCA continues to expand the adventure through post-launch updates. The Pokémon BDSP Global Wonder Station was just recently added to the games, with the new location allowing players to trade Pokémon with strangers online. While the games already gave players access to a Global Union Room, which lets trainers wirelessly trade Pokémon using link codes, access to the Global Wonder Station was blocked by a non-player character. Now that character has finally been moved, so random trainers can come together online to help each other through the trade of pocket monsters.

Pokémon BDSP lets players embark on an epic monster collection journey, and ANDZL has captured each memorable step within awe-inspiring illustrations. The style perfectly mimics the beloved Pokémon anime, while also reflecting the creator’s unique experience of exploring Sinnoh. Despite some moments of great danger, ANDZL always had Piplup as an unshakable partner by their side..
