The Magmarizer Item is helpful for trainers looking to complete Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The fourth generation introduced tons of new evolution methods to the series, and for the most part, several Pokémon in the series evolve by leveling up. A handful may require a special item or be traded to evolve, but a small select group of Pokémon evolves by combining both methods. The Magmarizer is an item that can be given to a Pokémon as a Held Item in BDSP.

While players can attach the Magmarizer to any Pokémon, it will only work when it is given to Magmar. If the trainer gives their Magmar the Magmarizer item and trades it, it will evolve into Magmortar. While Magmar debuted in the first generation of Pokémon and its pre-evolution, Magby was added during the second generation, Magmortar completes the line in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

To find the Magmarizer, players will need to wait until they make it to the third Gym Leader. As players progress through the game, new Pokémon will begin to spawn in the Grand Underground. These changes occur every time trainers earn a Gym Badge. It will happen again once trainers unlock access to the National Dex and new changes around Sinnoh that come along with it. Several new locations will appear around the map, and rare Pokémon spawns will start to appear in the Grand Underground.

Finding The Magmarizer in Pokémon BDSP

The first method requires trainers to enter the Grand Underground. Now that players have defeated Maylene and earned the third badge, Magby will appear in the Volcanic Cave, Sandsear Cave, or Typhlo Cavern. Each Magby will have a five percent chance of holding a Magmarizer when the player catches it. It’s worth pointing out that trainers will need a level 30 Magby that holds the Magmarizer to evolve it into Magmortar using the trading method. It is also important to mention that Magby is exclusive to Pokémon Shining Pearl, meaning players who own Pokémon Brilliant Diamond will need to trade for it.

If Magby does not appear in one of these rooms, trainers can leave and come back inside to reset the spawns and continue to do this until Magby appears. To save time, players can use Quick Balls, as these PokéBalls have the highest catch rate on the first turn of the battle. Since the odds are only five percent, players should save before every Magby encounter. Doing this will help players find a Magby without needing to leave the room, and if the Magby doesn’t have the item, players can reset to save space in their PC. Magmortar is one of the best Fire-type Pokémon in the Sinnoh region, and the Magmarizer is vital for adding it to the team for competitive matches.
