Munchlax in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is one of the easiest Pokémon to miss in a playthrough of the game. In the original Diamond and Pearl, this Pokémon could only be obtained from a Honey Tree encounter or by breeding Snorlax. The remakes made obtaining Munchlax much easier by adding a few spawn locations in the overworld. Trainers seek out this Pokémon because of Munchlax’s funny appearances in the Anime or they wish to add the powerful Snorlax to their team. In BDSP players can easily miss Munchlax because the only ways to find the Pokémon are from a Honey Tree, breeding Snorlax, or a rare spawn in the Grand Underground.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

There are 21 Honey Trees that can be found throughout the Sinnoh region and of those, only four can spawn a Munchlax. When a new game is started, these special trees are selected randomly based on the Trainer I.D. assigned to each player. The Honey item will need to be spread on the bark of Honey Trees in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl to attract 14 of the Pokémon found in the Sinnoh Pokédex. Fans will have to wait six full hours in real-time before one of these Honey Tree Pokémon spawn. Since the Pokémon only stay for 24 hours, marking the location on the map and setting a timer is recommended to not miss out on the encounter. Each Pokémon has a different spawn rate, with Munchlax being the lowest.

On top of the four Honey Trees attracting Munchlax, Trainers can encounter all the other pocket monsters. Players can complete the entire game without even getting a chance to catch this Pokémon. Munchlax has only a 1% chance of spawning on these trees as well. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl added the ability to encounter wild Pokémon through Hideaways in the Grand Underground. Munchlax can spawn in the Whiteout Cave, Riverbank Cave, Grassland Cave, Spacious Cave, Still-Water Cavern, and Sunlit Cavern. However, players must use Pokémon BDSP‘s easy-to-miss TM Defog before they can find this rare encounter. The final way to obtain this Pokémon is by breeding a Snorlax and hatching an egg. Trainers must acquire either a Snorlax and a Ditto or both a male and female Snorlax. A Snorlax must be holding the item Full Incense and the pair must be left at the daycare. After some time, an egg will be obtained and hatch into Munchlax.

Munchlax Evolves Into The Powerful Sleeping Pokemon Snorlax

Munchlax evolves into Snorlax in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl by leveling up after acquiring enough Friendship with its trainer. Snorlax is a big, blue-green, and cream-faced Pokémon that became beloved after appearing in the original run of the Pokémon anime. This Pokémon is such an iconic part of the series that Snorlax was added into Pokémon Unite. The Pokémon is great for absorbing damage because it has a base stat total of 540, boasting 160 points in health and 110 in special defense. Snorlax is also a pure Normal-type, so he has an immunity to Ghost attacks and a 2x weakness to only fighting moves.

Munchlax was one of the hardest Pokémon to obtain in the original Diamond and Pearl. The addition of Hideaways in the Grand Underground gives trainers a better chance of finding this encounter in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. While still difficult to get, Munchlax and its evolution Snorlax are both excellent team members.
