The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel has uploaded a near ten-hour-long music video featuring Bidoof, to help people relax and study. There have been a number of Pokémon ASMR videos released on YouTube over recent months, developed by The Pokémon Company for its social media channels.

Bidoof has been cementing its status as a meme Pokémon for a long time now. The beaver-inspired Pokémon debuted in Generation IV, in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The fact that those games have been remade on the Nintendo Switch as Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and the Sinnoh region received a prequel in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, mean that Bidoof has been given the spotlight once more. Bidoof was originally written off as a junk Normal-type dex filler when Pokémon Diamond and Pearl were released, even though its evolution was the best HM mule in the game. In recent times, Bidoof’s goofy design has seen it used in comedy videos released by The Pokémon Company, such as the Bidoof Rickroll parody on Bidoof Day in 2021.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Pokémon Day is fast approaching and The Pokémon Company has been featuring new events and adding content to its games. A new music video has been added to The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel to help people get into the festive mood for Pokémon Day, providing something for Bidoof fans. The Bidoofwave music video is almost ten hours long and it features a slowed-down loop of animation and music, repeated for the whole duration of the track.

The Bidoofwave Pokémon music video is a parody of the -wave genre of music, where people take clips from popular media franchises and slow it down in a similar manner to vaporwave music. These include the Simpsonswave and Zeldawave genres. It’s also a parody of the lo-fi music genre, which is often advertised as being helpful when studying or relaxing. The clip in the Bidoofwave video comes from the Bidoof’s Big StandPokémon animated short, where a Bidoof is cast out of its society and joins a Pokémon Trainer, going on to defeat a Golem and a Staraptor in a Pokémon tournament.

Pokémon Day is almost here and it will likely feature a Pokémon Direct with announcements regarding upcoming Pokémon games and multimedia projects. The past week has been filled with smaller announcements, which were promoted ahead of time. The release of a Bidoof-themed music video might be the company’s way of wrapping up the celebrations surrounding the beaver Pokémon, as Bidoof got a lot of attention because The Pokémon Company was gearing up to promote Gen IV content again. If Pokémon Day features Gen IX announcements, then this could be the last that fans hear from Bidoof for a while. However, if Pokémon Day has announcements regarding DLC for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl or Pokémon Legends: Arceus, then the era of Bidoof may go on a little longer.
