A special Glaceon will soon appear in Pokémon Go for players to challenge in Raid Battles as the game will host its holiday event from December 16th to December 31st. This event is heavily focused on Ice-type Pokémon and celebrating the holidays. The game does this by introducing new special holiday forms of Pokémon. This includes a holiday Spheal, which wears a special scarf, and a holiday Stantler, with bells around its neck. Although, the highlight for this event is the holiday Glaceon. The holiday version features a Winter cloak tied around Glaceon’s neck and runs down its back. Not only is this design spectacular, but lucky trainers will have the chance to find its Shiny form as well.

Even though the Pokémon Go holiday event is broken up into two halves, the holiday Glaceon will appear in both sections. Holiday Glaceon will appear in 3-Star Raid Battles and has about medium difficulty. To comfortably defeat Glaceon, trainers should group up into teams of two or three. Doing this will increase the chances of winning the battle. In the capturing phase, the game will display if a Pokémon is Shiny or not as the Shiny form will feature a new color variant and a unique sparkle.

In order to participate in a Raid Battle, the player will need to have a Raid Pass available. Fortunately, there are moments where players can get free Remote Raid Passes when visiting the Pokéshop. Glaceon is an Ice-type Pokémon. Additionally, trainers should bring along Pokémon with Fighting, Rock, Steel, or Fire-type moves to counter the holiday Glaceon. While any Pokémon with these moves will work, a handful will make this battle go much faster. These are the best Pokémon to counter the holiday Glaceon.

  • Metagross: Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash.
  • Lucario: Counter and Aursphere.
  • Chandelure: Incinerate and Overheat.
  • Volcarona: Fire Spin and Overheat.
  • Terrakion: Smack Down and Sacred Sword.

Holiday Glaceon is so sought after because of its chance of appearing Shiny in raids. However, with the holiday versions of these Pokémon only appearing during certain times of the year, this makes them incredibly rare. If a player is lucky enough to collect a holiday Pokémon that also happens to be its Shiny form, they would be considered insanely fortunate. There is no real competitive edge or benefit for having a Shiny holiday Glaceon, but the fact that it’s so rare makes it valuable. It can also be useful for profitable trades in the future.
