As the Pokémon franchise celebrates its anniversary all throughout this year with celebrity collaborations, Pokémon Go is getting in on the fun with an Ed Sheeran tie-in. After announcing a streamable Ed Sheeran concert taking place from November 22nd through the 30th—featuring the return of Squirtle with sunglasses—the game is going the extra mile. Pokémon already released a whole album celebrating the 25th anniversary featuring stars such as Kat Perry and Post Malone, so clearly the company is looking to work with some big names.

Today, Pokémon Go tweeted to let players know that they can enter a code to celebrate Ed Sheeran’s newest album by wearing a special avatar sweater with the album’s symbol on it. To get the sweater, players must enter the code RWQNL567S5SP7VTL on the Niantic Labs website after logging in with their Pokémon Go account, after which the item will show up in-game. The code is only usable until November 30th at 1:00 PM, when the Ed Sheeran event ends. While some have been confused about Sheeran’s relevance to Pokémon GO, anyone who wants to can claim this item for free. Most avatar items come at cost, so this is a nice gesture from Niantic.

Given the communal nature of Pokémon Go, this game often hosts events designed to bring players together. And with the pandemic still ongoing, a virtual concert makes sense. Additionally, after recent server crashes dragged down the Turtwig Spotlight Hour and players complained about the reward for the Halloween Quest being underwhelming, a free item, even if it’s just an avatar sweater, may do some work to soothe players’ ire.

Pokémon GO is available on iOS and Android devices.
