Pokémon GO’s first Community Day Classic event for the month of April is all about Mudkip, the iconic water-type Pokémon loved by fans all around the world. The upcoming event, titled “Memories of Mudkip”, will not only give all players a chance to obtain the Pokémon itself but also a special move for Mudkip’s evolved form.

Community Day Classics are in-game Pokémon GO events that take place once a month and center around one Pokémon. Usually, the featured Pokémon are among the more difficult ones to find. Along with the increased catch rates of the featured Pokémon, players are also granted a number of game-enhancing buffs to make their Pokémon-hunting easier. Players can usually expect increased XP and Stardust rewards as well as higher lure effectiveness that lasts throughout the entirety of the event.

Pokémon GO developer Niantic announced via the Pokémon GO blog that the next featured Community Day Classic Pokémon will be Mudkip, the popular water-type Pokémon that made its debut in the Generation 3 roster. For only three hours on Sunday, April 10, players will have a better chance of encountering a Mudkip (and a small chance at catching a special Shiny one, too). In addition, players can unlock an exclusive attack is called Hydro Cannon, which boasts a power level of 80 when used in Trainer Battles, and 90 for Gyms and raids. Hydro Cannon can only be unlocked by players who evolve Mudkip to Swampert twice during the event.

Along with featuring Mudkip, players will have access to the normal Community Day Classic perks, which include a triple XP bonus, three-hour Lure Module, and Incense activation, and other surprises teased in the announcement. Niantic is also promoting a special Community Day Box bundle which will cost 850 PokéCoins and includes 15 Ultra Balls, 15 Pinap Berries, 1 Elite Fast TM, and 1 Remote Raid Pass. All players will also be given a bundle of 30 Ultra Bells which can be obtained from the shop at no cost whatsoever.

The Mudkip Community Day Classic event comes just after the announcement of the Alola Community Day event, which is set to start on Saturday, April 23. The Alola event will give players a chance to catch the new Alola Pokémon, Stufful. Whether Pokémon GO trainers are seeking to add a Mudkip or a Stufful to their squads, it appears April is going to be a great month for catching new Pokémon.
