Darumaka can appear in Raid Battles in Pokémon Go. Joining this long-running franchise back in Pokémon Black and White for the Nintendo DS. Since then, Darumaka has grown to be a fan-favorite for the region and even got a new form in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Its Galarian form transforms this Fire-type Pokémon into an Ice-type who loves the cold. Both are available in Pokémon Go alongside their Shiny forms, which are incredibly difficult to encounter naturally.

The neat part about participating in Raid Battles is that it increases the chances of running into a Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Go. If an entire lobby can fill up with 20 players, at least one of them is guaranteed to encounter a Shiny Pokémon. It’s pretty rare for this to happen, especially during the colder season, but it’s not impossible. Although, this only works in Five-Star Raids when defeating legendary Pokémon. For Darumaka, it typically appears in One-Star Raid Battles, making it possible to defeat as a solo player. The higher the tier, the more challenging the Raid Battle is going to be.

In order to participate in Raid Battles, trainers will need to use a Raid Pass. These are rewarded for spinning Poké Stops but it’s possible to get a free Pokémon Go remote raid pass every week in the shop. Since Darumaka is a Fire-type Pokémon exclusively, this gives it weaknesses to Ground, Rock, and Water-type attacks. Trainers should focus on bringing these types of Pokémon to make quick work of the battle.

The only real reason to do this is to complete the Raid-themed special research tasks, alternatively, it’s a great way for finding Shiny Pokémon. If it’s Shiny, this is the first instance where the trainer is going to know. If not, make sure to capture it anyway. Use a Pinap Berries to earn more candy for the capture and invest that candy for when the Shiny form does actually appear. Pokémon Go will need to wait until Darumaka appears in Raid Battles again.
