There are level requirements once players reach level 40 and until they reach level 50 in Pokémon GO. Currently, the max level in Pokémon GO is level 50. Reaching this level can be incredibly difficult and time-consuming, and only a handful of Pokémon GO players around the world ever reach it. Up until level 40, trainers just need to focus on collecting enough XP to level up. Once players reach level 40, they will receive additional required tasks to complete if they want to level up. These tasks function similarly to the Special Research tasks in Pokémon GO, as they will reward the player with items upon completion.

First, trainers will need to reach level 40 in Pokémon GO. This was the previous level cap before the increase during the Season of Celebration event. There are several different ways to level up quickly in Pokémon GO, including using the Lucky Egg item or taking advantage of double XP events. It is a bit of a grind once the trainer reaches level 39. After reaching level 40, trainers will also be given access to XL Candy. These are a new form of candy that players can use to further power up their Pokémon’s CP, making them even stronger for battle. Trainers can then access their avatar menu to find out what tasks they need to complete.

Apart from earning enough XP to level up, Pokémon GO will give players an additional four tasks, meaning there will be five things to do to level up. Each task is designed to be challenging since level 50 is reserved for the most dedicated players. All these challenges will test players on tons of different mechanics, from battling to capturing Pokémon, to trading, and even to participating in Ultra League Battles in Pokémon GO.

Level 41-50 Requirements in Pokémon GO

For context, in order to reach level 50, trainers will need to earn double the XP they earned from level 1 to level 39. It’s meant to be hard to reach level 50 in Pokémon GO. It’s likely Niantic will increase the level cap again in the future as more trainers begin to cross that threshold. Pokémon GO does host special events during which it’s common for XP bonuses to be active. The neat part is that these XP bonuses can be combined with other multipliers for even more XP.

For example, Pokémon GO hosted an event last year in which players earned four times the XP for capturing Pokémon. If a Lucky Egg was active during this time, the XP earned would increase to eight times. Currently, the best way to learn about upcoming events is through the news tab within the game. This will show the trainer all active and upcoming events so they can plan to earn bonus XP. Players should also plan to get Lucky Eggs in Pokémon GO and save them for these special events.
