Shiny Gyarados is one of the many rewards available in Pokémon Go during the Johto Tour. Arguably one of the most significant Pokémon Go events of the year, the Johto Tour is a premium celebration of all things Johto region. Debuting in Pokémon Gold and Silver, the Johto region is an area full of fan-favorite legendary Pokémon like Suicune, Entei, and Raikou. Trainers could capture a Red Gyarados in Gold & Silver. Unfortunately, Pokémon Gold and Silver was also the debut of Shiny Pokémon, a species of creature that is so rare it’s nearly impossible to capture it during a regular playthrough.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In Pokémon Gold and Silver, a Red Gyarados could be found in the Lake of Rage. It’s located to the north of Mahogany Town and is the only stable Shiny Pokémon available in the game. All the rest appear by complete luck. With the Pokémon Go Johto Tour, trainers can find and capture every Johto Pokémon in their Shiny form. In the case of Red Gyarados, it’s directly attached to this event’s special research.

It’s important to mention that this is a ticketed event. To access all the goodies, including the Shiny Gyarados, trainers will need to purchase a Johto Tour ticket. It costs about USD 11.99 and gives full access to the Johto Tour story. The special research is broken up into nine different steps for this event. It’s one of the ways trainers can get their hands on Shiny Gyarados in Pokémon Go.
