Douse Drive Genesect is coming to Pokémon GO for the first time. Learning where to find and capture this legendary Pokémon is important for completing the Pokedex. While Genesect in its original form has already made an appearance in Pokémon Go, this is the first time players will be able to capture it with the Douse Drive attachment. The mechanic that makes Genesect so special is that players can change their typing by switching out their discs in the mainline games. Since players can’t do this in Pokemon Go, they have released Douse Drive Genesect as a separate Pokémon this October.

Genesect with the Douse Drive will appear in Pokémon GO from Friday, October 1 at 10 a.m. to Tuesday, October 12 at 10 a.m. local time. This leaves players a bit less than two weeks to find and capture this Pokémon. Though its type won’t change with the Douse Drive, Genesect has the potential to carry one of two possible moves. Douse Drive Genesect can either learn the Water-type version of Techno Blast or Gunk Shot.

In order for players to obtain this legendary Pokémon, they will need to defeat it in a five-star raid battle and then capture it. Since this is a legendary Pokémon, the best thing to do would be to find a group of at least five other players. This will make Douse Drive Genesect much easier to defeat. There are also a handful of Pokémon players should bring along to improve their odds of catching one.

How To Beat Douse Drive Genesect in Pokemon Go

Since the Douse Drive doesn’t change Genesect’s type in Pokémon Go, players can expect that it will still remain a Bug- and Steel-type Pokémon. This means it has a massive weakness to Fire. These are some of the best Fire-type Pokémon to bring along for this raid battle:

  • Charizard: Fire Spin and Blast Burn.
  • Ho-Oh: Incinerate and Blast Burn.
  • Moltres: Fire Spin and Overheat.
  • Reshiram: Fire Fang and Overheat.
  • Darmanitan: Fire Fang and Overheat.
  • Arcanine: Fire Fang and Flamethrower.

Regardless of the Pokémon players bring, more players involved in the lobby will make this battle easier. The best thing to do would be to hunt down raids as soon as possible to find other players wanting to try and capture this Pokémon. Douse Drive Genesect also does not have a Shiny form, so players only need to search for and capture its normal version.
