Pokémon GO: How To Find (& Catch) Shiny Murkrow

Shiny Murkrow will make an appearance during one of the upcoming Spotlight Hours in Pokémon GO. Spotlight Hours are weekly events in which a single Pokémon has their spawn rate increased for a single hour. This is the best chance players can have to grind for XP, Stardust, or Candy and to catch Shinies. The spawns become so aggressive, players often don’t even need to leave their homes to find a decent number of Pokémon. While Spotlight Hours don’t change the Shiny Odds like the Community Day events, they do make it easier to encounter one based on the sheer number of spawns.

Murkrow Spotlight Hour will take place on October 26 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. Spotlight Hours also provide players with an additional bonus, and, this time, players can expect double the XP for evolving Pokémon during the hour. This is the second bonus of this kind for this month, with the first taking place during Drifloon Spotlight Hour.

There are a few things players can do to prepare for Murkrow Spotlight Hour. Players will know they have encountered a Shiny Murkrow when it appears a bright purple color with sparkles behind it. These are all the different ways players can increase their chances of finding a Shiny Murkrow.

How To Find Shiny Murkrow in Pokemon Go

• Run: If Murkrow isn’t Shiny, players should run away. This will save time between encounters and make it easier to find its Shiny form. However, players will miss out on catch XP, Stardust, or candy for doing this.
• The Fast Catch Method: This is a trick that allows players to capture a Pokémon and skip the Pokeball animation, saving time between new encounters. It might be a bit uncomfortable to learn at first, but it will make it much easier to capitalize during timed events.
• Tag Pokémon That Can Evolve Beforehand: Pokémon GO allows players to go through their Pokémon Storage and tag Pokémon with specific emblems. Players should do this to every Pokémon in storage that can evolve before the event. Once the event begins, players can pop a Lucky Egg and start evolving for tons of XP.

Even with the Spotlight Event is over, players can still come across a Shiny Murkrow by playing normally. Pokémon GO will likely do more with Murkrow during the Halloween crossover event. In past holiday events, players were able to capture customized versions of classic Pokémon like Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle. It has been confirmed that the event will have a new Special Research for players to complete. This could tie back to Murkrow and give players another chance to find and catch its Shiny form.
