Pokémon GO is offering increased Catch Bonus XP and improved chances of finding and catching the popular Shiny Galarian Ponyta. Niantic is currently providing trainers with a series of Luminous Legends events. The events feature debuts for two different Legendaries, Xerneas and Yveltal. The mobile ARG has received plenty of updates full of new content. Prior to the ongoing Luminous Legends events, Niantic reintroduced Team GO Rocket to Pokémon GO. The sinister organization made for a popular addition but had to be temporarily removed because of technical errors. The removal lasted longer than fans expected, much to their disappointment; this prompted developer Niantic to soothe their frustrations with free gift boxes.

But that’s not the only aspect of the game that’s facing backlash from players. Pokémon Go fans have criticized new features that some view as being pay-to-win. The blame primarily lies with Eggs that can be bought with real money. The Eggs are viewed as being far too similar to loot boxes and violating the free-to-play game’s structure. Until this recent egg controversy, players were largely satisfied with the general direction of the game over the past 12 months, particularly bearing in mind the measures Niantic has taken to adapt to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.

Pokémon Go has confirmed new bonuses available to trainers through its official Twitter account. As a reward for completing the Fairy-type Pokémon challenge, trainers can now enjoy a 3x Catch XP Bonus. Additionally, players can look forward to the Pokémon Pancham making its debut in Pokémon Go. From now on, Pancham will be a part of raids for the rest of the events. Finally, trainers will have an increased chance of finding a Shiny Galarian Ponyta. These special creatures will be available for the entirety of the Luminous Legends events.

Shiny Galarian Ponyta is a new Shiny available in Pokémon Go. It is the first time the highly popular Shiny is appearing in the mobile game. New Shiny forms are generally available as part of special or global events. Regular Galarian Ponyta are already rare discoveries. The Luminous Legends X event addressed their rare nature by increasing spawn rates for all Fairy-type Pokémon.

Despite running into some recent controversies, Pokémon Go continues to be injected with fresh content regularly. This can only be good news, as lockdown restrictions slowly ease in conjunction with more vaccines rolling out. As fans take to the streets for the first time since the year-long pandemic began, the opportunity to catch rare Pokémon like the Shiny Galarian Ponyta or debutants like Xerneas and Yveltal will be a welcome sight.
