Party Hat Gengar is now an incredibly rare creature in Pokémon Go. It was introduced to trainers as part of the game’s New Years’ event during which, it was possible to find and capture costumed versions of Pokémon. This included Slowbro, Hoothoot, and even Gengar. Making its debut during the first generation in Pokémon Red and Blue, Gengar has become a fan-favorite amongst the community. It was possible to capture its Party Hat version during the New Year’s event, but that event has concluded.

The Pokémon Go New Year 2022 event ended on January 4th. All the New Year-variant Pokémon were removed from Raid Battles when it finished. Although, it is possible to still receive one by trading with a friend. On the bright side, Party Hat Gengar will likely return in the future. The New Year’s Pokémon of 2021 came back during the New Year’s 2022 event. This trend will likely continue with each New Year’s event. This means players will still need to know how to defeat it.

Gengar is a Poison and Ghost-type Pokémon, which is weak to Ground, Ghost, Psychic, and Dark-type moves. While bringing these Pokémon to win the battle isn’t necessary, it will make it much more manageable. To participate, trainers will need to have a Raid Pass. Currently, Niantic is giving free Remote Raid Passes in Pokémon Go. Claim it within the shop and use it to join the raid. These are the best Pokémon to defeat Party Gengar.

This combination also works when battling against Mega Gengar. Since its typing stays the same, the exact composition of Pokémon can be used to defeat it. It’s a great way to earn more Mega Energy in Pokémon Go. The Party Hat Gengar doesn’t have anything special besides its design. Its stats and abilities remain the same, but it’s all about the collection process. There’s something special about having every form of every Pokémon. Next New Year’s will be the second chance to obtain Party Hat Gengar.
