Trainers will have the opportunity to catch a shiny Weedle in Pokemon GO during the June 20 Community Day event. Community Days are special events held once a month in Pokemon GO that highlight a specific Pokemon. This month’s Community Day will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time, and will feature the bug-type Pokemon, Weedle, which can be evolved into the bee-like Pokemon, Beedrill.

The Pokemon that is highlighted during Community Day has an increased spawn rate, and a higher chance to appear shiny. For June’s community day, the official Pokemon Twitter held a poll in which people could vote for the Pokemon they wanted to be highlighted. Fans pushed for Weedle to be this month’s shiny as his shiny form had yet to appear in Pokemon GO, whereas the other three Pokemon (Squirtle, Sandshrew, Gastly) already have shiny forms available. As a result, Weedle’s shiny will now be available in-game after the start of the June 20 Community Day event.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

On June 9, Pokemon GO Live posted the announcement that revealed Weedle would be the featured Pokemon during June’s Community Day, and it was also revealed that Gastly would be the featured Pokemon for July. Other features of the event were revealed such as trainers have the opportunity to evolve their Weedle into a Kakuna and Beedrill during the event that will know the special move Drill Run. Players can also take snapshots of Weedle during the event for a “special surprise”, and there will be a June Community Day bundle that players can purchase from the item shop.

As an incentive for those who play from home, incenses used during the event will last for three hours, as opposed to lasting an hour. Players will also earn three times the stardust from catching Pokemon, and Buddy Pokemon that have a great buddy level or higher will bring players useful items. Weedle will also have a 1 in 25 chance of appearing shiny.

Pokemon GO Community Days are a great way to introduce players to shiny Pokemon, and this month’s Community Day is sure to draw in a lot of players seeing as Weedle’s shiny has not been available in Pokemon GO until now. This event not only introduces Weedle’s shiny form into GO but also the shiny forms of Kakuna and Beedrill. Shiny Pokemon are rare variants of Pokemon that are hard to come by outside of Community Day events. This event may be a trainer’s only chance to catch the elusive Shiny Weedle and evolve it into Shiny Beedrill.
