Strange Rings is one of the Special Research Tasks available in Pokemon Go. This guide will show players how they can complete it and the rewards they get for doing so. This quest was introduced as part of the special Go Fest event. This event happens once per year and was centered around a musical festival. Players were able to encounter music notes falling from the sky, a special Pop Star or Rock Star Pikachu, and complete a Special Research around Meloetta, a legendary Pokemon from Pokemon Black and White. During the second day of Go Fest, players were introduced to a new Special Research task centered around the legendary Pokemon, Hoopa. This guide will show players how they can complete this task and the rewards that come along with it.

Hoopa is a legendary Pokemon that was introduced to the series in generation 6 with Pokemon X and Y. The thing that makes this Pokemon so special are the rings it carries around. Using this ability, Hoopa is able to create wormholes in other areas around the globe. In the case of Go Fest, Hoopa used its rings to bring legendary Pokemon from all over to a single place. This is how players were able to encounter all those legendary Pokemon during the event. It did come along with its own Special Research with the Strange Rings task. This guide will show players how they can complete it.

The Strange Rings Special Research Tasks and Rewards in Pokemon Go

Fortunately, the Strange Rings Special Research Tasks is fairly short, being completed within just two stages. Here is how players can finish them off.

  • Stage 2/2: Win 5 Raids (5 Max Revives), Make 5 Great Throws (3 Silver Pinap Berries), Catch 20 different Pokemon species (3 Max Revives) Rewards: 10000 XP, 3 Silver Pinap Berries, and 3000 Stardust.

Unfortunately, this event did not conclude with a Hoopa encounter like many players might have expected. During Go Fest, players were able to look into the sky and find rings that opened doorways to new areas. Hoopa will likely be introduced in the next major event that takes place in Pokemon Go. It’s also possible for Hoopa to appear as the main Pokemon for Go Fest in 2022. Regardless, this was one of the best Go Fests to take place so far and it will be interesting to see what comes next.
