Players can do some truly creative things with their islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Players often set up and design their islands according to a theme, sometimes based on existing properties, like comic book superheroes or horror movies. Because Pokémon Gold & Silver and Animal Crossing: New Horizons are the two best-selling games in Japan, it only makes sense that fans would put them together for the ultimate fun. Players can bring together the simulated animal world of New Horizons and the world of Pokémon through their island and home design.

There are many items and custom designs available that can allow players to recreate or model some of their favorite Pokémon items, locations, and characters. Many players in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons community have already shown their love for and dedication to the Pokémon series with creative designs like those that recreated every Ash Ketchum outfit over the years. For fans of both franchises, here are some Animal Crossing: New Horizons design ideas and tips inspired by Pokémon.

Build A Pokémon Stadium in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

A big part of the Pokémon franchise is collecting creatures and having them train by fighting one another. To facilitate that, players or characters often stop by a stadium or gym. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players can use custom designs on the ground and a few chairs and vending machines to recreate a Pokémon stadium or gym.  User @beanberrito on Twitter showcased her custom stadium, perfect for Pokémon battles.

Players can also use fences and bring some of their resident villagers to emulate the different Pokémon. For an added bonus, some players create little speech bubbles on the ground with icons of the different Pokémon, saying which move they used and whether it was effective.

Use Custom Pokémon Clothing in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

So many members of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons community have already generated hundreds of codes for Pokémon and Pokémon-inspired clothing designs. Players can download and wear any of these items. Custom clothing designs can also be used as decoration, either on mannequins or hanging on walls.

Popular choices include outfit recreations of characters, costumes designed to make the player’s character look like a certain Pokémon, and T-shirts and sweaters with the different Pokémon on them.

Players can also create their own designs if they don’t find anything they prefer. As an added bonus, they can create designs based on their resident villagers’ tastes and make sure to gift these items to those villagers. This way, it will look like Pokémon or characters have populated the island. A Lazy villager might make the perfect Snorlax, while a Snooty villager might enjoy an outfit inspired by Sinistea.

Recreate Areas from Famous Pokémon Games in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Most customization players come up with in Animal Crossing: New Horizons involve recreations of areas from beloved video games or movies. Players can use this to their advantage. Once a player has unlocked Terraforming, they can totally redesign their island to match specific areas from their favorite Pokémon games.

For example, one player remade the National Park from Pokémon Gold & Silver, while another player remodeled their entire town in the Gold & Silver style. Still another player remodeled their island to look like Pallet Town from Pokémon Red & Blue. With so many games in the series and so many locations to choose from, players can recreate their favorite moments and allow their island to pay homage to the iconic locations in the franchise.

Display Pokémon as Artwork in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

While there is no way to have Pokémon free-roaming around an island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players can always decorate interior and exterior walls with images of different Pokémon. Inside a home, players can create custom photo collages showcasing either their favorite Pokémon or a collection of their favorites. Players can also craft walls around their town and add images of various Pokémon there.
