Hisuian Arcanine is one of Pokémon Legends: Arceus’s biggest additions. Giving Hisuian Arcanine the best moveset will help it be successful in challenging battles. While there is no competitive PvP available in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, there is a heavy focus on tougher post-game battles. The game’s secret boss has been praised as one of the Pokémon series’ most challenging battles. Because of this, it is vital to bring the best Pokémon with the best moves to defeat him, and Hisuian Arcanine is a good option. Players will need to wait until they reach Cobalt Coastland to capture it.

Since Hisuian Arcanine is one of the few new Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, it is a bit more challenging to obtain. The only way to find Hisuian Arcanine in the wild in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is by discovering one through Massive Mass Outbreaks. Otherwise, trainers will need to find a Hisuian Growlithe and evolve it. This Fire and Rock-type can be found in both Windbreak Stand and Veilstone Cape. It’s fairly rare, so if players are having a hard time making one appear, they should return to Jublife Village to refresh the spawn rates. After capturing Hisuian Growlithe, trainers will need to give it a Fire Stone to evolve it into Hisuian Arcanine.

Once the player has captured or evolved their own Hisuian Arcanine, the best moveset to give it are Crunch, Raging Fury, Flare Blitz, and Double-Edge. Since it’s a Rock- and Fire-type Pokémon, it has weaknesses to Fighting- and Rock-type moves, with x4 weakness to Ground- and Water-type moves. However, it can resist Normal-, Flying-, Poison-, Bug-, Ice-, Fire-, and Fairy-type attacks. Out of its stats, its Attack, Special Attack, and Speed are amongst the highest. All of these moves are Physical Moves that will give Hisuian Arcanine a Same-Type Attack Bonus.

Best Moveset For Hisuian Arcanine in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

The moves that make Hisuian Arcanine most effective in Pokémon Legends: Arceus include:

  • Crunch: The Pokémon crunches up the target with sharp fangs. This may also lower the target’s defensive stats.
  • Raging Fury: The Pokémon rampages and spews vicious flames to inflict damage on the target, then becomes fixated on using this move. This move is exclusive to Hisuian Arcanine.
  • Flare Blitz: The Pokémon cloaks itself in fire and charges the target to inflict damage. This also damages the user and may leave the target with a burn.
  • Double-Edge: A reckless, life-risking tackle in which the user rushes the target. This also damages the user.

Trainers will need to wait until Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to experience competitive PvP battles again. Until then, capturing all the legendaries in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a tall order in itself. Hisuian Arcanine does have some massive weaknesses, but it makes up for these with its formidable attack stat. Because Flare Blitz has the chance to burn, it will also cut a Pokémon’s attack stat in half. It only happens a handful of times, but it’s a worthy status ailment that can be a game-changer near the endgame.
