Umbreon is one of the many Eevee-evolutions available for capture in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. To make the most out of its stats, it’s essential for trainers to apply a proper moveset. For starters, each Pokémon can have up to two typings at a time. If a Pokémon has a move of the same type, they will receive a Same Type Attack Bonus for additional damage per move. In the case of Umbreon, it’s only a Dark-type Pokémon, giving it weaknesses to Fighting, Bug, and Fairy-type attacks. These are things trainers should consider when creating their team composition.

In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, there are a handful of different ways to obtain Umbreon. The first is by obtaining an Eevee and evolving it through friendship at night. Eevee can appear in all five of the biomes in the game, making it easier to hunt. To max out friendship, just use Eevee in battles, make sure it doesn’t faint, and set it as the Pokémon that collect resources in the overworld. Eventually, trainers will receive the notification that it can evolve. It’s important to do it exclusively at night or else it might accidentally evolve into Espeon.

The best moveset to run when using Umbreon in Arceus will be Dark Pulse, Psychic, Rest, and Snarl. The thing that makes this Eevee-lution stand out from the rest is its impressive defensive and special defensive stats. Those are Umbreon’s highest, meaning it can take a lot of damage without fainting. Its speed stat is its third most impressive stat, making it easy for Umbreon to set up and heal using Rest. It’s a Pokémon that’s meant to be the team’s defensive tank.

The Best Moveset For Umbreon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

  • Dark Pulse: The user releases a horrible aura imbued with ill intent. This attack never misses.
  • Psychic: The target is hit with a strong telekinetic force to inflict damage. This may also lower the target’s defensive stats.
  • Rest: The user restores its own HP but also becomes drowsy.
  • Snarl: The user attacks by crying out as if it’s ranting about something. This also lowers the target’s offensive stats.

Snarl is a big one for any Umbreon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, after setting it up once against an opponent, it will struggle to have the offensive capabilities to bring down Umbreon. If its HP gets too low, use Rest and wait it out until it wakes up. Alternatively, players can use an item to instantly awaken it. Some of Pokémon Legends: Arceus postgame battles can be incredibly difficult. Having a bulky Umbreon on the team will make it easier to withstand deadly attacks. Combine it with an Espeon, the complete opposite of Umbreon, with an incredibly high special attack stat to cover all bases.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is available now on Nintendo Switch.
