In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players can evolve Bergmite into Hisuian Avalugg to add a powerful Ice-Rock type Pokémon to their team and work toward completing their Pokédex. Visually, Avalugg is an enormous ice giant that resembles an iceberg with thick legs of rock. Bergmite, the pre-evolved form, and Ice-type, is a smaller chunk of sharp ice. Bergmite is a friendly Pokémon, and it will not attempt to run from players when they encounter it in the wild.

To find this glacial Pokémon, players will need to travel to the frigid area of Alabaster Icelands in the Hisui region. Players can start using a mount in Pokémon Legends: Arceus to reach the area and search Avalugg’s Legacy or the Arena’s Approach. Luckily for players searching for this icy Pokémon, both Bergmite and Avalugg are common spawns in these areas. While abundant in this region, players can improve their chances of finding this Pokémon by revisiting the ice pillar location from the story mission The Slumbering Lord of the Tundra. Players should expect the wild Bergmite they encounter in this area to be around level 30, and they should prepare their team accordingly.

Because it is an Ice-type, Bergmite is weak to Fighting-, Rock-, Steel-, and Fire-type moves, and it has a resistance to Ice-type attacks. Therefore, Bergmite and Avalugg can appear as the featured Pokémon during a mass outbreak in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The mass outbreak will cause many of the featured Pokémon to spawn at once during the timed event and significantly increase players’ chances of finding a shiny variant or searching for a specific nature. While visually similar to its standard form, shiny Bergmite is a darker blue color, and shiny Hisuian Avalugg has warmer tones and less visible snow. Additionally, players have a slight chance of encountering Bergmite and Avalugg as Alpha Pokémon.

Evolving Bergmite into Hisuian Avalugg in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Once players spot a Bergmite in the wild, they should throw berries to distract the frozen Pokémon. Once distracted, players can throw Poké Balls to try and make the catch in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. After players successfully catch Bergmite, they will need to increase it to level 37 in order to evolve it into Hisuian Avalugg and complete the requirement in the Pokédex to evolve Bergmite. Once players have met the level requirement of 37, they can evolve Bergmite manually through the Satchel or Pasture menus. Unlike previous Pokémon games, Bergmite will not automatically evolve into Hisuian Avalugg once it reaches level 37.

To increase a Pokémon’s level, players can use it in battle. Additionally, feeding a Pokémon EXP candy will increase its experience proportionally to the size of the candy, either small, medium, or large. For example, players can give their Bergmite a Rare Candy in Pokémon Legends: Arceus to immediately increase its level by one. To find Rare Candy, players can complete various in-game quests or purchase them from the Trading Post in Jubilife Village.

Once players have obtained a Hisuian Avalugg, they can leverage its Ice-Rock type and high HP and Attack stats in battle. This giant glacial Pokémon is weak to Fighting, Steel, Rock, Ground, Water, and Grass types, but it does resist Ice, Normal, Flying, and Poison types. However, Avalugg does have a low Special Defense stat that can make it a poor choice against Special Attackers. Additionally, players may also recognize this powerful attacker from one of the Noble Pokémon battles they encountered earlier in the main story in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
