Hisuian Avalugg in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is one of the newest creatures to join the series. Ever since Pokémon Sun and Moon for the Nintendo 3DS, older Pokémon have been given new forms with regional variants. For instance, fan-favorites like the Fire-type Vulpix were given an Ice-type alternate with Alolan Vulpix. While it’s common for Pokémon to drop and add new features with every new entry, regional variants seem to be one that’s sticking. With Pokémon Legends: Arceus, a handful of classic Pokémon were given new Hisuian forms that tap into the ancient past of Sinnoh. New forms were even given to Pokémon that didn’t originate from the Sinnoh region, like Hisuian Avalugg.

Avalugg made its debut back in Pokémon X and Y. It’s an Ice-type Pokémon that evolves from Bergmite the moment it hits level 37. Although in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, it is one of the game’s Noble Pokémon. These act as the protectors of the Hisui region and they begin to act out once the player falls out of the sky. It is up to them to quell the Noble Pokémon in order to restore balance back into this world. With Hisuian Avalugg, it has gone from an Ice-type to a Rock- and Ice-type Pokémon. It also has half of its body covered in rocks now.

There are two different ways to obtain a Hisuian Avalugg in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The first is by capturing Bergmite and evolving it. Fortunately, Bergmite is one of the most common spawns in this area. It can be found in Alabaster Icelands near Avalugg’s Legacy or Arena’s Approach. The player will just need to reach level 37 for it to evolve. Since this Bergmite is originally from the Hisui region, it will automatically evolve into Hisuian Avalugg without any other requirements.

Hisuian Avalugg Locations In Pokémon: Legends Arceus

The second method is by finding a wild Hisuian Avalugg and capturing it directly. It will spawn exclusively in Avalugg’s Legacy in Alabaster Icelands. Fortunately, Hisuian Avalugg is a fairly slow Pokémon, making it easy to sneak up on without it running away. Trainers should make sure to get close enough to throw a berry for the Avalugg to eat. When it’s distracted, they can hit it directly in the back with an Ultra Ball or Gigaton Ball for a higher chance of capturing it.

Alternatively, trainers can battle and weaken it to make it easier to capture. With Hisuian Avalugg being an Ice- and Rock-type Pokémon, it’s weak to Fighting, Ground, Rock, Steel, Water, and Grass-type attacks. The Ice-typing is universally known as the worst in the bunch because of all of its weaknesses. Regardless, trainers will need to capture it to complete the Pokédex and obtain the Shiny Charm. Thankfully,  Hisuian Avalugg is one of the easier Hisuian forms to find in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is available now on Nintendo Switch.
