Machamp is a strong Fighting-type Pokémon that players can obtain by evolving Machoke in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Machamp can also be caught in Arena’s Approach in Alabaster Icelands, but players won’t reach that region until later in the game. To get Machamp early on, players will need to either catch Machoke and evolve it or catch and evolve Machop. Both Machop and Machoke can be found early in the game in various subregions around Hisui.

The first areas that Machop can be found in are Oreburrow Tunnel and Obsidian Falls in Obsidian Fieldlands. There are also Machop that can be found around Cobalt Coastlands, Coronet Highlands, and Alabaster Icelands. Machop can be evolved into Machoke when it reaches level 28. However, if players don’t want to spend the time leveling up Machop to 28, they can also just catch Machoke in the wild. Machoke is most easily found in Pokémon Legends: Arceus‘ Obsidian Fieldlands in the Obsidian Falls subregion.

If players are exploring other regions of Hisui, they can also find Machoke in Castaway Shore, Bolderoll Ravine, Cloudcap Pass, Icebound Falls, Arena’s Approach, and Snowfall Hot Springs. The only region that Machoke doesn’t appear in is Crimson Mirelands. Machoke is an aggressive Pokémon and will attack players if it spots them, so they will need to either sneak up behind the Pokémon or battle it. After Machoke is caught, a Linking Cord will be needed to evolve it into Machamp.

Evolving Machoke with a Linking Cord in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

A Linking Cord is an evolution item that can be purchased for 1,000 Merit Points at the Trading Post in Jubilife Village. Merit Points can be earned through the Lost and Found system. When players are knocked out in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, their items will be dropped in satchels that can be picked up by other trainers. Lost Satchels can be retrieved from areas all over Hisui, and the contents will automatically be returned to the owner. After interacting with a Lost Satchel, players can go to the Lost and Found menu to claim up to 100 Merit Points for each one returned.

When enough Merit Points are collected, a Linking Cord can be purchased and used to evolve Machoke into Machamp. From the menu, players can take the Linking Cord out of their Satchel and give it to Machoke, then the option to evolve will immediately be available. Alternatively, players can evolve their Machoke by trading it with a friend using the Trading Post in Jubiilfe Village.

After evolving Machoke, players can use the powerful Fighting-type, Machamp, on their team to win battles more easily. Throughout Pokémon Legends: Arceus there are Alpha and Noble Pokémon that can be challenging to fight. Having a strong team is essential to winning, especially in the later parts of the game. Evolving Machoke into Machamp will help players assemble a good offensive team in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
