A new Poké Ball discovered by dataminers in Pokémon Legends: Arceus can be thrown, but its use remains a mystery. The most recent release in Nintendo and Game Freak’s long-running franchise, Pokémon Legends: Arceus earned high review scores, and has been praised as an exciting and fresh take on an origin story. In the game, Pokémon Trainers are responsible for exploring the Hisui region and documenting and catching all the Pokémon that live there.

Despite having a different feel from previous games in terms of its gameplay and world, Pokémon Legends: Arceus serves the origin story behind the popular Diamond and Pearl games set in the beautiful region of Sinnoh, known in Arceus by its ancient name, Hisui. Similar to its predecessors, the game’s main goal is to explore and capture and battle various unique Pokémon. The only way to capture these encountered Pokémon is by throwing Poké Balls at them once they are weakened enough from battling. Various Poké Balls can be crafted to capture all 250 unique ‘Mons, many of which include multiple new Hisuian Pokémon variants. While the existence of Master Balls with a 100 percent catch rate has been ensured in other Pokémon games, they are absent in the latest one to the dismay of Trainers.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Discovered by Pokémon Legends: Arceus dataminer theSLAYER and shared by Pokémon leaker CentroLeaks (via Dexerto), a new in-game Poké Ball has been found – one that is aqua green in color and initially was unsuitable for throwing. theSLAYER worked around the game to fix this, though, sharing footage of themselves throwing the ball and writing: “It can be thrown after all!” The user replied to the original tweet saying that the animation of the Poké Ball looks strange, and was not included in the overlay UI, implying that the ball was not intended to be owned. The clip has caused many fans to speculate on the actual use of the mystery ball.

Sharing theories on the mysterious Pokémon Legends: Arceus Poké Ball, fans on Twitter noted that it can also be found as unused code in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl – the games Arceus is the origin story for. Another interesting point lies in the color of the ball – green – just like the color scheme of Pokémon Home, a cloud service where Trainers can collect all of their captured ‘Mons cross-platform. Comments on the tweet agreed that the Poké Ball will most likely be used to transfer Pokémon through Home, especially since Nintendo announced that transfers from BDSP to Arceus will be supported later this year. None of this is confirmed, though, so the mystery behind the new ball remains.

The existence of a new mysterious Poké Ball is exciting to Trainers, especially in Pokémon Legends: Arceuswhere a new type of Pokémon gameplay is implemented which will hopefully be a template for future Pokémon games. If the ball is confirmed to be used in Home, the convenience for players and connection among all the games will be appreciated. New and old players of Pokémon are more than satisfied with Pokémon Legends: Arceus, guaranteeing that the long-term popularity of the franchise will only continue.
