Probopass is one of the many dangerous creatures in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Initially making its debut in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl as the evolution of Nosepass, Probopass is closely connected to the lore of the Sinnoh region. In the original game, the only way to evolve Nosepass was by leveling it up while it was in a special magnetic field. The game doesn’t clarify what this means but in the case of Diamond and Pearl, as long as it’s in Mount Coronet, it can evolve. This is because of the magnetic field surrounding the mountain, causing Probopass to gain its Steel-typing.

In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the method of evolving Nosepass has changed. Rather than needing a magnetic field, the player needs to expose Nosepass to a Thunder Stone for it to evolve. These can be found by breaking the various sparkling ore around the Hisui region. Of course, there’s no guarantee that it’ll be a Thunder Stone, but it does have the chance to make an appearance. Not only that, but trainers can purchase them from the Trading Post in Jubilife Village for 1,000 Merit Points. Fortunately, there is a way to skip this process by directly capturing Probopass.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Trainers will be able to encounter an Alpha Probopass in Primeval Grotto of Coronet Highlands. It will appear outside at all times of the day nearby smaller Nosepass’. Now, there are two different ways for players to handle this situation. They can either choose to capture Probopass via a battle or without battling altogether. Both have their own methods and can be useful to catch this Alpha Pokémon in Legends: Arceus.

Capturing Probopass in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

If trainers opt to capture it without battling, they should aim to have at least eight Star Ranks. Each ranking will increase the chance of successfully catching Alpha Pokémon. Not only that but craft as many Sticky Globs as possible before heading to this location. Trainers can throw them at Probopass to cause them to get stunned. Then, head behind its frozen body and throw the Poké Ball directly at its back. This will also increase the chances of a successful capture.

Those looking to battle should enter this battle with Water-type Pokémon. Since Probopass is a Fighting- and Ground-type Pokémon, Water-types resist everything it can possibly throw at them. This will make it easier to capture it without worrying about swapping Pokémon. Unfortunately, it will appear at level 73, making it one of the most difficult Alpha Pokémon to capture. Continue to attack using Agile moves to chip down its health until it reaches yellow or red. After that, just keep throwing Poké Balls at it until it’s captured. Probopass is one of the 200+ Pokémon that are needed to complete the Hisui Pokédex.
