In the new Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players can explore and interact with Sinnoh’s ancient past in a time when Pokémon were regarded with fear instead of friendship. As one of the few people who are unafraid of Pokémon, players are tasked with completing the very first Pokédex by the eccentric Professor Laventon through catching and battling “them all.” Even though completing the Pokédex is filled with new and exciting challenges, some game mechanics, such as evolution stones, continue to remain a steadfast staple in the Pokémon franchise.

Along with new evolution stones, such as the obsidian-looking Black Augurite, the classic trio of elemental evolution stones also make their return. Of these, the Fire Stone continues to be a core staple of the game as the only way to evolve Eevee into Flareon, Vulpix into Ninetales, and Pokemon Legends Hisuian Growlithe into Hisuian Arcanine. However, finding Fire Stones can be challenging, especially in comparison to other recent Pokémon games in the franchise, such as Sword & Shield.

Thankfully finding Fire Stones hasn’t gone back to the past as well, such as the level of difficulty in the original Pokémon: Red and Blue. Players have multiple ways to find Fire Stones and most of the other evolution stones in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Players can expect all of the methods to require some grinding and some luck.

How to Find & Purchase Fire Stones in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

The easiest and least time-consuming method for players to find multiple Fire Stones is farming them from Tumblestone ores. There are three different types of ores that stick up out of the ground which players can send out their Pokémon to break and then retrieve the stones. Some of these ores will also be sparkling, indicating that they contain rarer materials, including evolution stones. By seeking out these sparkling ores, players have a chance to attain Fire Stones and other valuable materials.

Players may also purchase Fire Stones along with other evolution items from Simona at the Trading Post in Jubilife Village using Merit Points. However, this is not the most efficient method, as Merit Points are only awarded through returning Lost Satchels, which on average has a payout of about 50 MP per satchel, with Fire Stones costing 1000 MP. So instead, it would be better to save Merit Points to purchase the rarer evolution items, such as the Linking Cord. Similarly, they can be purchased at the Ginko Guild’s Cart for 5,000 Pokédollars from Ginter; however, their appearance is pretty rare.

The final way is through completing Request Missions, which sometimes offer evolution stones as a reward. One such mission is Request #52, “Eevee’s Evolutions,” which is unlocked after completing Request #48, “The Taste of Home.” As a reward for finding Eevee, the quest giver Floaro will give players the option to pick one out of three different evolution stones, one of which is a Fire Stone. As this is a non-repeatable mission, only one type of stone can be earned this way.
